Hi Vince.

An excellent piece of work, well done.

Kit form may be a safer option.

Cheers

Charles

Thanks Charles for your opinion. As people are showing an interest in this model I would like to make it easier for printing. Anybody else have any thoughts about this?

Another option I was thinking about was giving the file user the choice. I could include in the zip file both the individual part files and also a fully assembled file.

Another worry that cropped up was is there space on the Armortek turret for this? From the photos of the real thing it becomes obvious that this IR detector has to fit in a cramped space. As I don't have access to the Chieftain model can somebody confirm that it will actually fit using the general dimensions shown below? Dimensions in brackets are in mm.

Thanks in advance

Hi Vince
Just checked my turret top plate and I think the ir detector should fit as drawn.

Mark H's test print of Vince's IR mount. It comes as one piece 8)
Once they've been printed, we'll have to sort out some decent packaging to protect them in the post.
I'll post cost's on the wants and sales topic for those that might want one/or two :D

Thanks

Could one of you do me a favour when you get the part. Could you take a magnifying glass and check those six studs. The threads have been modelled also so just wondering the end result with Mark's 12K printer.

Vince, sorry to say Mark tells me has not setup the new printer yet, so the IR mounts may not have the threads exposed. Knowing my painting ability the threads would be gone on the first coat of primer :(
Maybe next time
Of course some one skilled with a scalpel could etch them on

I've picked up the prints from Mark tonight. They're looking marvelous. Mark did three prototypes to see which way would be the best way to print before the actual print run. 8)
The black one in the foreground being the final print after clean up. I'll be posting paid prints out tomorrow all being well. :D

I've put the IR mount print on the turret to show what it looks like along with Vince's fabulous MRS and gunner's sight. 8) 8) 8)
Placement of the parts is just a guestimate at the moment.
