Re: Militracks 2020 - 16/17 May
For us UK travellers, I have been looking at some routes and times on google Maps.
For those of you S.W. of London it is about 3/4 to 1/2 hour extra to get to Harwich rather than Dover
Pro's for Dover: 1 1/2 hour crossing, cheaper fare: can pick more sailing times
Con: 4 hour drive from Calais to Overloon.
Pro's for Harwich: Long crossing time so have an opportunity to Rest and have a couple of decent meals. Only 2 1/2 hour drive to Overloon.
Cons: More expensive ferry fare; Very early start to get to Harwich by 08:00 for the 09:00 sailing. Only two sailings a day, early morning and early evening, the latter getting in about 07:00 local.
Even more expensive if you do an overnight sail.
As I live an hour from Harwich I will be doing the 09:00 on the Thursday, getting to Overloon about 19:00, returning on the Monday 14:15 sailing so i will be home about 21:00
Just checked my Bookings, I'll be there from Wednesday 13th so can have a good look around the Museum and town as well as visiting the War cemetery.

Re: Militracks 2020 - 16/17 May
For those of us in the South and West, Dover - Dunkirk looks the optimum. Last time I looked, it was slightly cheaper than the Calais crossing, about half hour more boat time (enough for a decent meal and a rest) and, of course, slightly less driving at t'other end .....
Our plan is to travel on Friday, 2 days at the show, and then travel back on Monday. At the last count there'll be 5 of us (4 vehicles), already booked in to t'Holt.
Can any of our Dutch /German friends who do the show regularly tell us how this token system works ? Do you get equivalent value (ie. €1='1token), and can you cash in unspent ones at the end ?
All the best,
Chris

We have checked and unfortunately there are no "free" or "special offer" tickets available for the event. Having models running is pretty new for the museum, so I think this will evolve over time.florian rudolf wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:06 pm
How about the tickets? - Do we have special tickets for akteurs or shall I book normal guest tickets?

The crowds gathering in front of the entrance before opening are getting bigger every year, I am sure you can make arrangements that we as praticipants can enter earlier?

Re: Militracks 2020 - 16/17 May
I've booked and printed my tickets.
Ideally we ought to be able to get into the museum on the Friday to drop off our models and get ourselves set up in the running area.
I would think that other exhibitors with their vehicles will be able to get their stuff in a day or two before the event as happens at other displays and events.
I'm pretty sure last year's Panther wasn't expected to arrive saturday morning and unload outside the museum
Could this be checked out please?

Re: Militracks 2020 - 16/17 May
Gentlemen,
I really like your enthusiasm! However, we are in the middle of the King Tiger shipping and will only start planning our Militracks runnning area, the set up, our journey to Overloon, etc closer to the time. Please keep in mind that this is the first time the Museum allows a running area during the Militracks event and Kian and I will discuss with them in the coming weeks/months what we can do and what we are not allowed to do. More details on this will follow. Thank you for your patience!

Pete -
I've been monitoring this, as I'm sure we all have. Whether or not Militracks goes ahead (and I'm assuming it won't
), the other issue is how to get there. The U.K. is in lockdown, so we can't get out and, unless we take the Harwich - Hook of Holland ferry, all routes go through France, which seems to be in an even worse state than us.
So, regretfully, I've written it off, although I won't cancel bookings until the last flicker of hope is extinguished.
Tankfest ? I have major doubts. Using Boris's aphorism, the U.K. will be at Peak Sombrero by then.
As the Chinese say: may you live in interesting times. They didn't say downright creepy, though .....
Stay well, everyone. And enjoy that enforced workshop time ! Think of all the new models we'll be able to display next season
.
Best wishes,
Chris

Which is of course intended as a curse..... Prophetic really.
Unless, as you say, this is a golden excuse for quality shed time. Now, at five years a go, I've got ten years of entertainment, no make that twelve as one of them is Chieftain.

At the moment we are still planning on attending.
The museum are going to make a decision around the middle of April and we will take our lead from them.

...like so many other events - it is going to be a busy fall!

A little too much is about right...
