Very very rarely seen on Ausf A hulls but sometimes on turrets esp on the mantlet.
Please bare in mind only Demag made Bergepanthers Ausf A and G.
Zimmerit on all Ausf A and non on the Ausf G.
The Jerry can holders are field modifications and here is another fm on a Demag:
Raised boxes on the engine plates I./Pz.Abt.4 in Italy captured by the free french during the Casino battle.
Kind regards

Thanks for the info Kent, it's much appreciated. I may use horizontal tooled zim on the upper hull for a bit of interest cheers Phil .

Hi Phil
Nice work on the flak mount.
I was thinking the same about the top deck mounting, it really needs those weld seams doing so it needs to be bolted down.
Regards
Steve

Hi Steve, I think the turreted examples will require the same weld detail to, or it just will not look any good, there's no way the milliput will stay there unless that deck has all it's fixings. So you guys with the turrets will need to factor in the access for the batteries etc through the big round hole .............Phil.

A few more pickies. I am considering building a larger calibre gun variant using another Panther "A" chassis, I wonder what gun kits are available either in plastic or metal ?

Hi Phil,
Very nice work, I also love the fact that you are prepared to mix it up a little and add the horizontal tooled zim on the upper hull. you will upset the Panther purists
I do love the Panther, it was a shame I had to sell mine
Paul.

I am so brave , it's been a real change to build these Panthers and i am enjoying something different but look forward to starting work again on the Tigers, so much to do but it's very rewarding.
Can't wait to see your next instalment Paul regards Phil.

Well I think that's all the fixtures and fittings bolted on, the barrel cleaning rod tube is not needed on the nr side so i will remove it, all the photos of this type of variant do not show one for obvious reasons, the undercoat is all done with the initial weathering to that coat completed,
( the weathering at the undercoat stage is a technique I have developed over many years).
The Panther has a big cavernous interior and so provides room for manoeuvre, I tend to follow a set pattern for the internal fittings. The motion pack once set up will require little maintenance, the important switches must be to hand just inside the engine hatch, and so can be easily accessed if the unit needs to be switched off in a hurry. With the new 2.4ghz radio system it's now virtually fool proof (once set up correctly) I have never heard of radio failure with 2.4ghz, well not like the old system anyway, I wonder how many aircraft I have lost in my time! When I was employed in the operation to fly large target drones (150kgs) manys the time I have seen them nose dive on range after a radio problem, standing orders were to ditch the aircraft asap rather than risk a Rapier battery strike, EXPENSIVE!

No Internet for me for a few days as the spectacular thunderstorms have fried our phone line, so I shall be quiet for a bit, enjoy the peace guys

I have made a start installing the motion pack for the Flakpanther, the new audio of the Panther engine is quite different from the older 2010 version, I think it's more like the real thing, has anyone else got that far yet, and if so what are your thoughts on the new sound file? I shall shoot some video and post a link to youtube soon so we can all have a listen Phil.
For now it really does sound like this one, I have posted this video before but this is the sound of my unit and I love it, if we could have the running gear clatter included it would be perfection

Almost finished the wiring just the smoke to build and install, I do like the new Panther sound, Thomas Benidini and Armortek have done a great job!
The eagle eyed may spot a heavy duty switch near the radio operators position, I wonder what that is for? It's not the main power switch.

Looking good Phil, at a guess I would say that the switch is for a smoker, it looks to be wired to the drive motor.
Paul.

Hi Phil,
That is one very neat and tidy layout you have there with your panther build.
