Thank you, to you all! for coming and making it the amazing day it was.

Of course it is all of you and your fantastic models that makes it the very special day that it is.

It was indeed a record attendance, and an amazing display of model building talent.

Competition winners were as follows:

Best Allied Vehicle, Lee Sellars for his Sherman

Best Tiger 1, Simon Manning for his Early Tiger 1

Best ‘Other’ German Tank, Clive Lockwood for his Panther

Best ‘Other’ German Vehicle, Nigel Allen for his Sdkfz 7

Best in Show, Simon Manning for his Early Tiger 1

Our ‘fun’ competitions ‘Guess the weight’ and ‘Guess the quantity’ were won by Denny Patterson and David Gray respectively.

It was particularly good this year to meet so many new customers who I am sure were inspired by the customer models on display.

The day goes by in a flash for both of us and although I know we spoke to very many of you if there was anyone we missed we can only apologise.

We would also like to give a big thank you to those have helped us in the run up to the day. Mark Mitchell who I must have rung 100 times during the week asking for yet another sign, certificate, competition form! And then still finding time to help us set up on the Friday and taking all the photos on the day. Chris Fry for his help on the Friday and with parking on the day. Lee Sellars, Dave Dibb and Nick Ashford for donating prizes and last but not least the brilliant support given by our family.

Bearing in mind that I have never been to this part of our island, as soon as
we approached the area I said "This has got to be a ww2 USAF base purely by looking at the layout of the place. In fact I believe that there were two USAF airfields next to each other.

Where we went used to be the first US naval airbase established in 1943.

Believe it or not most of the buildings are original with slight modifications,

Check out this site:

http://devonandsomersetmc.co.uk/dunkeswell.htm

The taxi driver that took me home said that his father worked at the base.

B24s were part of three squdrens based there!

Being an ex flyer enthusiiast I thought that this might of interest to some
members.

Great photos in the airfield gallery of the countryside. Even some of France. Lovely, would love to see it myself. The lancaster coming in for a landing is a great pix although a little fuzzy.
Thanks for the link Stewart.
