Hi guys
It's always fun to speculate about what the next release will be. I enjoy these posts on the forum every time.
Allan, I think all Kent was saying is that in general, German vehicles are more popular in the 1:6th market place. This is just a fact. I don't believe it was his intention to "attack" others suggestions.
As far as the sales of the Sdkfz 7, it is a great vehicle to go with the 88 but as a stand alone vehicle? I am in no way saying it is not a great piece of engineering and does not make a super visual and functional model. I just prefer more combat related vehicles.
Not that the Sdkz 7 did not see combat
So once the new motion packs are completed, the last PIII and mid Tigers packed, I would like to see a Stug III or a 251/D. Both of which would have some nice variants for customization possibilities.
Regards
Tim

Has the time come to draw up a list of candidate vehicles, possibly taking a number of weeks to make sure everyone has a chance to add to it, then have a 'beauty contest'? Armortek might actually find the experiment of some value as they think ahead.
The list should encompass armour, soft skin, wheeled, tracked, all nationalities, artillery, ancient and modern etc. etc. It may be necessary to group variants under the root vehicle. We ought to be able to arrange to have thumbnail pictures to allow everyone to jog their memories about what is what.
The list should encompass all existing Armortek items for completeness, then every voter should list their preferences 1,2,3,4...... for as far as they care to go. After another few weeks, to give everyone a chance to express their preferences, we can sum the results and argue about the results.
From the membership list I see that there are 331 potential contributors - I wonder if it is possible to detect inactive members? Is it practical to email all members and, possibly, others who have expressed an interest in Armortek models in the last, say, five years?
To give the exercise more commercial validity, perhaps we should pose the question - 'Which model would you be SERIOUSLY prepared to pay to own?'

Hi Steven
There are only 331 registered users of this forum, the majority make a post now and again BUT there are a lot of owners who dislike forums some of which have a sneaky view now and again
I have tried and will continue to try to persuade owners to post here
From experience some will never post on a forum no matter what but if they read they learn and will think "that was useful info". No one here bites we are at are own level and learn from each other which makes this, in my opinion, one of if not the best forum of its type in the 1/6th scale AFV world.

I have just looked through the members list and I counted that only 77 members have never posted here that is not a bad ratio

What if we look to what Armortek already offers and ask for them to offer another run of that - another limited run? I missed out on the Panzer 4.
Or a variant on one of there existing offerings? While I like the Stug III, I would rather have a P4 variant like a JagdPanzer L70. Between existing offerings of Armorpax and Toyriffic, i think a lot of the add-on are already available as well.

I would like to think that the Armortek models are almost super luxury and as such above the world economic state. This may sound arrogant but I've been lead to believe this form other sources. A friend of mine makes top end jewelry and he has not seen a downturn in business. I think that these models are in the same bracket.
As to choice of model Armortek must be reasonably certain that the model they make will sell in sufficient numbers to make the necessary profit margin otherwise there would be no Armortek. To me there are a few models such as the German big cats that are well known and popular but once we diverge from these the demand falls and sales are less. The challenge is being able to make the more diverse models in the smaller numbers yet still make sufficient profit.

Maybe this one would be nice !!! lots of options ... Small easy to build only eight road wheels , would run real nice . If it was price around $ 1.400 pounds , It would bring in new owners . I would order one if the price was around this or lower ??? it should cost less then the PZII to make ..I would degsin it so the whole upper hull would come off to gain entry inside for the motion packs .. Dale
I love my King tiger !!! The only DOWN SIDE is it's that big ! It's like owning a Bob-cat, you have to drive it everywhere .. This model above you should be able to lift it yourself and put it on your cars back seat and away you go...

I too like Dale's suggestion of the Panzer 38t. As it is the base for not just the Marder but the Hetzer as well.....
I know it goes against that "Big Cat" theory, but space and money "are" real considerations for me.......sorry guys.

How about the idea of making conversion sets/kits to complement the exsisting kits that are already produced? as in the stugs, recovery/engineer vehicles?

I wonder if Armortek could over-produce the chassis parts and let people such as Blitzkrieg Armour produce matching upper hull/turret parts for conversion ?
Adrian.

I still vote for Lee or Grant. lots of great camo ideas, lots of added details and more r/c funtions than you can think of. It stacks up well against panzer mark III, the mark IV, the mighty 88, the 222 and german half track. It also works well next to the M3.

I have not posted here in years, I have tried but it seems IE does not like the forum or vise versa. I would get to the preview part, hit post and it would cycle back to preview. After several tries it would then ask me to log in again, over and over. I tried using 4 different computers and two differant OP systems.
I have downloaded Modzilla Firefox as an alternative brosser and I have no problem posting from one of those very same computers.
The next model would have to be something special IMO. British stuff does not do it for me, neither does Russian, except maybe a T-55. US WWII tanks were garbage, Id like to have a 5 ton 6x6 truck. I like artillery (heavy)but it needs a tow vehical. A Pershing would have me thinking. A Hummel. ? PzIV chassis with differant tops? Other wise go modern. A Leopard or Bradley would be very hard to turn down. I read the comment in another thread about modern scale speed being dangerous. Well who said it would have to be scale speed ? Put a governer on it. Besides life is full of risk if you keep yourself in a bubble your not really living.
Allen, I agree with you on these being luxury items. I bought an 09 Harley Davidson for the same amount of money that I have into my Panther and Panzer4 combined. Now which one ids going to get the most use ? Yep the bike by far. So the next model I will buy needs to come off a very short list.
WW1 tank kit options

Would folks consider WW1 tanks, maybe the British Mark IV or Whippet? Most WW1 tanks are rather basic boxes of riveted armor with simple track systems and cannon or 2 so costs will be low. Imagine a Mark IV with its fully exposed tracks turning and 2 cannons firing along with 2-3 machine guns!! Oh, and you'll need an especially robust smoke generator. These tanks seem to have smoke coming out of everywhere in old movies! Not much to machine except the cannon so costs should be relatively low; less than a Panzer? I bet the Armortek guys have the engine soundtrack ready to go being so close to the last working Mark IV.
I'm trying to mock-up a 1/6 Mark IV in plastic working out how to set up the tracks. From the amount of time and money I've spent researching and still no working tank I'd gladly pay for a kit! Really, any of the British, French, or German tanks from WW1 would be unusual and interesting to build. No welds allowed!
Cheers, Brown
