2025 ARMORTEK KIT SURVEY

Over the last few years we have brought out a whole series of kits as a direct result of your feedback - kits like the Pershing, JagdPanther, Hetzer, Leopard 2A4, and more recently the Sd Kfz 7, 88mm Flak 36 and the upcoming Challenger 2.

So, in keeping with what has become and annual tradition, here is your opportunity to once again influence our future production plans.

We have added in some "guide pricing" next to the names of the models. This is a rough estimate of the price at the current rates.

Thanks in advance for your input and we look forward to the results.

Hi All,

I have been busy adding the internal turret detail to my tiger. Hopefully once I have finished this, I will move on to the breach. Or I my just finish off the camouflage and get some enjoyment out or running it. That's the great thing about these models, you can always go back to them later on. 8) :D

Thanks Phil, all of the turret wall stowage was made by John Fitzsimons, I just put it together and fitted it :D 8)

I presume you mean the Armortek wiring loom and not the photo below.
MP40-3a.jpg
In all the years I have had this Tiger, I have only used the gun elevation once and I have fallen out with the blank firer. So I don't think I will be fitting it. Well not unless I can find a way to re-position the motor and hide it in the gear box.

I was referring to the 1/1 Tiger loom, it would take it to another level! :D
I very rarely fit the elevation system unless someone requests it as I hardly ever use it..Phil

Hi Phil,

Yes I will be fitting that loom partially working, well the turret lighting at least 8) :D

My next research job is to find somewhere that can make me some glass prisms. I know Loic @ FOA has some perspex prisms which are very good, but I want usable ones. lavish and expensive I know, but I had a set in a previous model and they gave you a very interesting video view from the cupola.

Hi all,

Just a heads up for anyone upgrading the Early Tiger one with the three part sprockets. I had always known that my tigers sprockets had been catching on the drive housing, but laziness stopped me from rectifying it until now

When I have tried to fit the new sprockets they wouldn't turn so I had to investigate! I looked at the original one piece sprocket and straight away saw the problem.
Original one piece sprocket with grove where it been catching

So I took the drive housing off and reassembled it on the bench so I could check that was all. as you can see the are bolts are also catching.
New three piece sprockets with added bolts

So I filled (yes filled by hand, no milling machine here) the extra detail off, checking there was enough material so as not to file through to the drive itself.
Extra moulding filled away

There is just enough clearance now with the bolts filled down 8)

Hi Adrian,

It was one of those jobs I should have done a long time ago but never got round to  I probably didn't need to take the detail right off but I didn't want to have to go back later if there was a clearance issue. It only took an hour to do both hubs, so not too bad.

Hi All,

I have been quite busy with the Tiger but not a lot to show, its mainly been research and waiting for parts and tools coming. but today I have finished working on the Feifel air filters tubes. I asked Tim Catton to make the round Feifel filters for me and joint engine intake tube. Then 131 was released and I bought Armorteks 3d printed tubes thinking there wont be much difference   anyway I managed to make them fit 8) I just need to make the holding bracket.

Now its back to the breach, I will post some photos later.

Hi All,

I've been working on the breach and cradle that I bought. I have been using David Byrdens drawing to get it closer to the early tiger 1. I started with the cradle and replaced the PVC pipe that was supplied for one that was a better fit, 50mm outer, 40mm inner. this brought the inner more to 6th scale.
Cradle 00.JPG
Cradle 01.JPG
Cradle 02.JPG
Then I moved on to the breach and have added extra detail.
Breach 01.JPG
Breach 04.JPG
The bolt detail on the Breach recoil beam wasn't that good, so I have refreshed that too.

I need a bit of info if anyone can help. the photo below shows two lumps projecting from the top of the breach. are they round pins or bolts?

Same on Tads drawings.

Hi All,

I got the answer to the question of whether the two lumps projecting from the top of the breach are they round pins or bolts? they are bolts 8)
Breech bolts.jpg
So I have been busy working away on the breach, adding extra detail and the recoil function. the breach hole was too big at 26mm so I had to add a nylon insert and redrill it to 16.5mm to accept the ready mad ammunition.
IMG_2499.JPG
IMG_2500.JPG
IMG_2501.JPG
IMG_2502.JPG
IMG_2503.JPG
Then moving on to the Cradle. I had already replaced the original tube for a 50mm outer diameter and 40mm inner. I added a 40mm nylon rod which was the same length as the cradle and I drilled the center to 16.5mm. this now allows me to add the Armortek barrel and have the breach recoil.

I will post more tomorrow if I get chance.

I applied the correct pipe thread in the end of the nylon rod and attached the Armortek barrel.

Then I attached the cradle to the mantlet with four bolts. It was at this point I realised the breach guard was too long and the wrong shape,
IMG_2522.JPG
IMG_2523.JPG
So I have now altered it using the photos of Tiger 131s breach and it fits in nicely.
