Hello everyone, a few domestic issues at the moment....managed to sneak into the workshop and fit the Quads windows....would you believe I managed to fit the first two window frames back to front....which of course did not look right. So, had a gander at the manual...and reversed them before the Araldite had set...phew

Hi Guys, made a start on the final paint camo finish. I have a set of 'decals' made up by Pyramid Models. The spray paint is applied in the dead of night, thereby avoiding a tongue wagging.....

The camo is applied using paper cut to shape....held down with 'bluetack'.....then spray painted with 400ml cans....Mick

Nearly there, decals to apply etc,. This build was always a stop gap or filler until the next Armortek Tank. As always...a delight to build.....looking forward to following the many other 'Quad' builds, out there......Mick

Great paint job there Michael- really sets the model off. Have you used something to tone down the colours? If so care to share what you used?

Hello Peter, nothing very clever, I'm old school, using 400ml spray cans......light rub down with very fine emery cloth, this cuts the colour back. Go over with 'tack' cloth to remove any residue, then light spray with Citadel Purity Seal satin varnish. I will apply the decals, leave for 24hrs then a final coat of Citadel....Mick

Mick, you've done a lovely job on your Quad, you must be proud of her. Have you thought about a spot of weathering? It's too easy to be put off by all the blah and hype in the world of plastic kits but it couldn't be simpler. Since you've used the Citadel acrylic varnish, you could now use enamels and oils with some freedom and if you don't like what you see, you can wipe it off and start again. You could also start "down under" where the results aren't too obvious. I'm increasingly attracted to using oils - the tubes last forever, you can do washes, filters, streaking, dry brushing and chipping, all with the same medium, and with their slower drying time, you can easily correct anything you don't like.

Thank you for your observations Stephen. I have tried dry brushing, and watched videos on 'weathering' it's always seemed a dark art however, I may well give it a go. Nothing ventured nothing gained....Mick

Just spotted this news item in 'The Mail' newspaper. A new book,.....'Armoured Warfare in the First World War 1916-1918 by Anthony Tucker-Jones, published by Pen and Sword Military, lots of black and white photographs.....Mick
