g'day again.

what is overpaint john?

my current situation is:

1. grey primer used with a white spray which also doubles as a primer.
2. details being glued/screwed on.
3. i have the vellajo winter weathering paints & also air brush.
4. i'm going to paint the turret first as my baptism of fire.

i have been investigating flat enamel laquer to seal the final paint scheme. is this correct?
is there a painting & weathering thread on the forum?

Sorry Ray, Sometimes I post from iphone and miss out on spacing. I meant over paint as did you paint surface first and then apply milliput. The milliput might bond better to bare metal than paint. Also as mentioned before, milliput might have started curing before you finished application.

g'day john. `sorry for the delay. yes, i applied the milliput over the etch primer. its only cracking where theres a gap between joins and the vibrations from driving are causing movment. i'll re-putty.

cheers

Make a channel with dremmel so the milliput has somthing to key to. Have a look at Yves king TIger build. Some good photos there.

g'day all. been a bit qiuet lately. started the bridge recently. the span prototype was measured from the model and cut from balsa wood. as its not lasr cut some pieces may be 1 or 2mm out in some places. thats not a problem as this is my dimension process prior to autocad for the engineering shop.

so far the measurements have come up good. heres some pics.

Decided to put bridge on hold as I source the right materials. I have a bit but its winter and shed gets cold. Therefore I ensured all running and building of gun version was done to provide something to show at the Sydney Society of Model Engineer's open day. As I rely on others to carry out my work under my guidance it takes longer and at a skill level less than many here. But I'm happy so far and will continue to rework when skill level increases. Cheers Ray
