As I couldn’t find any decent local distributors for Graupner I was wondering if anyone had any experience in PowerBox radio systems with Armortek red electronics.

My next choice would be Futaba FX36 with S-FHSS receiver.
Would it be safe to assume that R2008SB Futaba S-FHSS receiver would be ok as Armortek has confirmed that S-FHSS receiver R2006GS works well with new red boxes?

Question: Does the FlySky Paladin PL18 transmitter comply with the “Frame Rate 22 m/s”? It is my understanding that Armortek
requires 22 m/s. Anyone????

I don't know the exact value, but there was no problem using it.

I have a friend with the Paladin PL18 EV and it's worked in all his Armortek models.

It's only the ultra high speed protocols which can be problematic.

I can confirm the FrSky X20/Tandem series ( X20S, X20HD, X20Pro and XE) will interact well with The latest pre-brushless Armortek
electronics. Telemetry is easy to set up including threshold to audibly warm you if any monitored attributes hit your defined limits.
Main battery voltage and current draw come to mind.

I also have a Paladin EV 18 B ut have not used it yet; very likely won't as the X series does everything I want.

22ms frame rate has become sort of a defacto industry standard for rc systems that support PPM/PWM protocols. There's information
spread out all over the place on the net for this. To be able to use analog servos is one highlight I recall.

With the introduction of SBUS by Futaba and its various implementations by FlySky and FrSky it allows for even shorter frame rates. Frames rates that are inappropriate for anything not intended for them which I believe includes Armortek electronics. To use SBUS is a configuration decision- it doesn't happen by accident at least on FrSky equipment, I have to assume it's the same on FlySky latest equipment as well as well. With FrSky ETHOS one configures it by channel for each model/receiver combination. I believe systems using OpenTx/ EdgeTx can also configure this. While I've used OpenTx I never used SBUS or IBUS in my systems there.

In my KT project I'm using only one channel, the one used for telemetry, as SBUS. I configured the one channel via the ETHOS GUI on the transmitter.

I'm by no means an expert on this; seems I have to re-learn it every time I need information; my father would be shaking his head due to my lack of understanding of basic electrickery. He was a master of it.

Some of the modern systems may actually tell you more about these aspects of their function themselves- I rarely have an issue so I don't often look behind that curtain...

In the end personal first-hand experience with a system reigns supreme: if others have successfully used a system that's good enough for me.

Most modern TX Systems offer frame rates at about 20 ms (for analogue servos) and about 10 ms (for digital servos), but this is also one difference. The other is called 'output mode' and offers either sequential signals (called 'once') or grouped signals (called 'same'). Some electronic equipment that serves more than one servo function (e.g. double ESCs with mixer for driving and steering) cannot handle grouped signals. When using the TX setup 'frame rate 20 ms' and 'output mode once' this equipment will work without problems. I wouldn't see any necessity to use bus systems in a tank, because there is space enough for conventional wiring.

This sounds so complicated! I have been able to avoid all difficulty elegantly with my Brixl system. Sadly, they have announced that there will be no more transmitters coming from them. The reason for that is suppliers going out of business during the pandemic. Also, the cost of parts has gone up to a point that you get a complete, good import system for the cost of the parts alone.

It has been very convenient to just plug in as many servos or other controllers as you want. Just connect decoders as necessary. It just works.

Now, it's a dead end. They will continue support, but no new systems. =(

Too bad to hear that Brixl offers no more transmitters, because this systems did fit tanks very fine and had many prop channels. So I'm glad that at least Graupner now finally offers it's new MC 32 ex transmitter with 32 true prop channels and 16 switching channels. Well, it's not available for peanuts, but a drive ready model for far more than 7,000 € may also earn a 1,700 € transmitter....

I use Futaba 7c with my Tigers using the older motion packs. Is the futaba 7c compatible with the latest motion packs?

When I’ve finish my landrover if possible I would prefer a steering wheel type transmitter, as is more common on RC cars, rather than the joystick types I use on my tanks.
Are there any transmitters of this type that’ll be suitable?

FlySky do several.
