Small Spanners

Post by Liam Mahoney »

I have been playing around with some laser cutting and have managed to get some small spanners cut from 4140 Chromalloy sheet 1.6mm thick. I have tweaked the hex shape a little to get a better grip on the nuts and they are working very nicely, the ring end will break/strip even high tensile bolts before bending (up to M3). Obviously the open end is not as strong as it has no material build up to compensate for the opening, but they are very handy for those hard to get to but firm to turn nuts.

As the cuts are very fine relative to the plate thickness it is hard to get a clean flash free cut, the flash is relative easy to remove but can be time consuming so I am offering the spanner sets (13 off from 2.5mm to 7mm) “as cut” for AU$85 but for those that do not want to remove the flash a finish set is AU$145, plus fees and freight.

Oh very cool Liam. I'll go for a set. One can never have too many tools.

I'd say I want to be buried with my tools like the Pharaohs of old so that I have something to do in the afterlife....but I'd need a pyramid sized workshop to fit them and all my 100+ model tanks.

I may as well just begin sending you all my money...

I knew this was going to happen once I gave in to 1/6 scale...
