Series 1 resin engine/trans/transfer case detail

Just gauging interest among the Series 1 folks... who might be interested in a resin engine bay kit.

There are several potential vendors in UK and USA. As I am doing a static kit, I am really interested in one.

Anyone else that might be interested.... post up and let me know. I want to see if I can get someone to put resin engine bay stuff into a run. Could also include 3D printing.

I am totally digging this kit! Just want to add some under-hood items.

BTW, having owned more than 20 Land Rovers including a real Pink Panther, a prototype Forward Control, a Series 1, a 20 digit serial number really early Series II Safari... I can say that this kit is way ahead of Land Rover in bodywork finish quality. Going to have to run over panels with my HMMWV and hit things with Ball Pein hammers to authenticate the ''real' Land Rover fit and finish.

Hi.
I'm interested. But since I'm planning to make an RC model, I guess I'll only need the upper part, since I have to place the electric motor and the steering servo under the hood. :D
But I'm sure that's a problem I can (easily? ) fix afterwards?
Also left hand!

i would be interested too.
same than Tor, mine will be RC, so will probably to remove some parts.
Also to notice i have an left hand drive version (may impact the transfer case details ?)

Seems like enough interest for me to put a request out to a couple of 3D print folks...

I won't start my kit for several weeks at best, so please be patient! And if anyone else has any ideas or wants to run with this, don't let me stand in your way!

Hi Folks:

I've sort of struck out with finding folks who want to do these engines. BUT... I found this guy on eBay who has a lot of Resin 1/8" scale engines for sale. And while not exactly the same, I think with some careful machining and sculpting work, the Chevy Super Thrift motor (which is bigger than the Land Rover Motor) can be made into a very creditable replica.

The kit is $110 US. I ordered the last one on the site with a manual transmission (he will make more). And it should be here in early January. So I will bust right into it and see what I can do to reshape it (and post here). Because the block, sump, bellhousing, etc. are almost certainly going to be 'close enough' to give me a starting point. And if not, I have not invested a ton of $$.

The seller is reluctant to do 1/6th scale engines because they take a long time to print and are heavy to ship, etc. BUT I don't think he is anticipating that the little Land Rover motor in 1/6th is probably smaller than the 3.8 Liter Chevy in 1:8 scale! And if we have a dozen people who want to place orders up front, hey, maybe we'll get it done. When I get the kit in, I'll have contact info for the seller (eBay doesn't let us 'communicate'). BUT I can get contact information from the package.

No worries! It's part of what makes this so much fun!

I also got a note from Dave Dibb of Armorpax who suggested another 3D printing guy who might be willing to do a run if there is enough interest. Dave is getting into some 3D printing projects (and his stuff is amazing!) and so knows that community.

So we have a couple of tracks ongoing.

My printed/resin kit should be here before New Year, so I will dive right into it and see what I can suss out!

Hi Folks:

The 3D printed motor parts arrived and looks very promising! THe print detail is excellent and the parts are very dense with excellent surface finish.

I'm going to contact Texas 3D and send them a link to this thread to see if they have any interest! I've had limited communications with the owner due to eBay severely limiting communications. But now I have a good e-mail!
