2006 Panther G

I had a chance to buy back my 2006 Panther G, which I sold in 2015. The 8 years and 5,500 miles (8800km) of travel haven't been kind. Apparently it sat in a barn for 4 years. Its now missing some parts - the barrel, side skirts, turret elevation and rotation motors and some of the old electronics. It wasn't packed that well for the journey back to me and suffered some damage to the turret - smashed cupola and bent roof. Nothing that can't be fixed. Its still good to have it back.

First order of business after repair of the turret will be this. Add 355mm bearing for turret.

Some progress on the old panther. Bearing fitted under deck plate.


It was missing the barrel - so I made a prototype via printing. It will have a 12mm carbon fiber tube down the center.

I like the muzzle break, it's a marked improvement over the original part.

Great looking muzzle brake Bob and unlike mine you made yours in separate pieces.
Now that I have started experimenting with 3d printing I have learned of the advantage of breaking complex models into different parts for printing.

Phil - I think you're right -it looks like someone set 500lbs on the cupola. Not surprising - it was just wrapped in cardboard. A tempting target for UPS handlers.

Vince- yes the best way is to break something like this into easy pieces to print. It assemble very easy. Even my printed threads are spot on.

Nice view of the wheels, except for big chunk of rubber missing from tire! Blame the previous owner!

Thanks Vince - its good to have it running again. I keep adding dents to the front fenders. Took it out for a run in the yard a few days ago. Need to add sound yet.
