SW Model Show, Tank Museum

The SW Model show is on Saturday 10 Sep at the Tank Museum. After the less than ideal running area at TankFest, we've made our views known and the Museum has offered us a new running area on the grass slope in the arena nearest to the Museum cafe and balcony. If it's raining, we can either use the balcony, under cover or if the rain is horizontal, there will be a running area in the Tank Story Hall.

In order to let the Museum know how many passes we need, would you please let us know via pm or email if you'd like to come.

Arrival is between 0700-0830, show is between 0900-1700. Passes will be available at the running area, once I've collected them. Parking/unloading will be in the Main Car Park.

Most importantly, the cafe will be open for bacon butties from 0800.

Hope to see you there with completed Churchills, Hetzers.......

Stephen

To date, I've had one expression of interest. If you'd like to attend, please let me know before next weekend. I'll otherwise let the Tank Museum know that we're not attending. Thanks. Stephen

Hello Stephen,
Myself and at least two other Armortek owners are attending with the Southern Armour Group so if the Armortek Owners are not going to attend, there will be an Armortek presence at the Show (I will wear my new RED Armortek hat) and for that matter we will be at Tiger Day as well. Insurance obviously required but included with club membership.

Thanks,

Will.

Will thanks. We've had an Armortek area at Tank Museum shows for the last fourteen years at least. The logic of having a dedicated area has been to keep the one sixth scale models together, to maximise their impact and let the smaller scales and non-military models have their own separate running area.

It looks as though this is no longer viable. I've let the Tank Museum know that we will not be attending as a separate group.

Hello Stephen,

I fully understand the Armortek view and do support them at Tankfest where there is a large presence with all the Armortek support and advertising. But it is rather "elitist" and we need to nurture our younger treadheads and encourage them in the hobby so 1/16th and smaller is equally important. I probably like you have a leg on both sides of the fence which can be uncomfortable at times. One youngster at Tankfest (about 8 years old) asked me how much the tanks cost, so I asked him how much he got in pocket money each week. He replied £5 so I told him to save up until he was 30 and then he could afford to buy one. Not the answer he wanted.
Hope to see you over the next few weekends at Bovvy with or without Armortek banners and leaflets.

Will.

Really wanted to bring my Tiger to this event but couldn’t get the time off work. Hopefully next year.
Is anyone with an Armortek free to come along? I do have BMFA insurance?

Matt
