storage bins in front mud guards

Post by Jeffrey Goff »

I thought I would have a go at making the storage bins functional, I used the white metal casting that comes with the kit, and just cut out the top and added a side piece, just to strengthen the top edge, then added a hinge to a mild steel lid, a quick and easy modification, I also added two hinged compartments in the top grill these were fitted above the petrol filler caps

Interesting mods Jeff.

I've been stripping the paint from my recently purchased 222 this weekend and having seen the construction of the front mudguards I had pondered the possibility of adding these lockers. How did you attch the side piece - epoxied or soldered :?:

I also see your 222 has a floor - did it arrive with that or have you added it :?:

Adrian.

Hi Adrian, because the castings are a white metal and have a low melting point, I epoxied the mild steel sides, this is easy as the sides are tapered and it can not fall inward, I plan to make the interior with all the fittings, and the floor will be of chequer plate, I have just used some scrap alloy on the floor so I can see how to proceed
