Gary, there aren't many options for Late type tracks. I've been converting my AT Tiger 1 links but its an immense amount of work. You can see my threads in the Tiger 1 forum.

There is a company, Full Metal Panzer in China that produce steel Late Tiger 1 tracks. But is a major overhaul to convert to those and the added expense. They are over $1100 USD and add considerable weight to the model..
Best regards, Happy New Year,
Bob

I'm curious Bob, why is it a major overhaul to adapt the tracks from FMP; are they that different from stock Armortek Tracks and if so how?
I don't happen to have a Tiger I at the moment but one does like to keep track of what options are available...

hi jerry, the main difference between early & late tracks are the ice cleats.as robert stated its a mountain of tedious work converting early armortek track links into the late type.

Oh I understand the physical difference between the two versions, when I read "major overhaul to convert to those" I thought it meant
overhaul to the model itself not just the tracks. If it did require mechanical changes to the model to use the FMP tracks I was wondering what
those were. I've read in the past where there were slight differences with secondary market tracks suck as in guide horn thickness or sprocket tooth hole spacing, etc, etc. and was curious if that was also the case here.

You guys who would tackle actually modifying existing tracks from one version to another have way more patience than I do at present!
In the past I've cast tracks from zinc and others from aluminium and just doing that and drilling countless pin holes made me seriously OD
on lower level track work. Ugh....been there done that. It would have to be an extraordinary project for me to want to fiddle that much with tracks.
If any tank model of mine has the wrong 'shoes' I'd just say "it was late in the conflict and they were happy to have any tracks at all!"...

Jerry,
The pitch and width of the FMP tiger links are slightly different than the AT links. So requires at least new teeth rings for the sprockets. There may also need tweaking of the idler position and width of idler as well as tweaks to the road wheels to get them to fit and track correctly. Its not an out of the box install, but for someone with machining capability not impossible. This is what I meant by major overhaul. The track links themselves are high quality stainless steel, with nice steel pins - so they will out last me.

Modifying the existing links is not impossible, but would not undertake it without CNC to machine the new caps for the links. It would take years to manually do this.

I'm considering the FMP tiger 1 track but haven't plunged in yet. I did replace the tracks on my Metalbox PZII Luch with FMP tracks -they seem to run fine once fitted to tank.

I have recently contact the FMP, regarding the diameters of the track link holes and track pins. The answer is they are 3.2mm and 3.0mm, respectively.

HNY everyone.

Sorry I wasn't entirely clear in my writing...FMP replied instantly to me also with his initial response but he was going to compare his track to Armortek's to see what the differences are as he apparently owns an Armortek KT as well...that's the response I'm waiting for.

As it turns out the current FMP KT steel track sets are not easily adaptable to an Armortek KT...
