IDF Centurion

Post by Steve Norris »

When Armortek produced the Centurion I believe they made a very small batch of IDF Centurions (Israeli). Does anyone know what difference there were between the standard kit and the IDF ones.

Steve

Not sure what differences there were in the kit versions but Google & Wiki research suggests IDF Cents had a different cupola and turret basket ( visual differences ) and were fitted with diesel engines .

The diesel engines meant different rear decks.

I don't think Armortek would have made IDF ones. I don't remember anything at the time and there's nothing on the forum about an IDF version.

Hello all,

I'm with Adrian, to the best of my knowledge Armortek only made a Meteor engined Cent. I've still got the flyer somewhere for it!

Cheers,

Alex

The Centurion was released by Armortek as a Mk V. I’m sure one owner altered his to an IDF version but cannot for the life of me remember who. Think it will be a case of scan all the Cent build threads.
If I recall, will let you know.

I was hoping someone would know what was changed as I have the chance to buy one but the owner has never opened the boxes and cannot remember what was changed.

Luc De Weirdt from Belgium built an IDF centurion, I have no idea if this was modified beyond the paint, I don't know if he still has this tank.

Luc’s was a bog standard kit. I dimly remember something about a batch of six being made for a customer. Don’t know what mods were made, if any. At the time there was a hope that Cent would open more markets in the Middle East but I believe the batch were made for a UK customer.
