The new "red box" modules come with a toggle switch and relay system, rather than the previous "soft start" set up, so there is no current drain when the tank is off.

Good morning everyone. The 'Bench Test' completed without a single tear being shed. no choice words, no muttering under your breath. I have the absolute faith in the 'Red boxes' ...so there. Also, I followed the Knowledge Base advice setting up my Spectrum DX6 and 610Rx, a doddle...
Hello Tom, I usually charge my 12volt batteries separately. In the past, on advice, I disconnected the batteries as well, note Adrian's answer for the newer Red Boxes. The older motion pack batteries do slowly discharge if left connected.
Moving on, I have started installing the modules before the top deck is bolted down. Loads of space so not a problem.....with the mild weather I skimmed the top grass off the lawn....Mick.

Good afternoon lads, and the girls. Just a moment of reflection

.... at about three am this morning I was awake and messing with the StuG. I had my motion packs fitted in the tank and the batteries laid flat, end to end. All was well.
The battery connections facing each other. The installation of the initial motion units fitted and working. The sound system working. All was well.

In a moment of ( I wander what day it is today) I managed to dislodge the power switch.....which until that moment had been perched on top of one of the 12v batteries. The switch fell and lodged between the positive and negative terminals of the two 12v batteries....I thought it was bonfire night

My first reaction was to ' blow' on the dead short

.....with the terminals 'glowing' I flicked the switch clear....what is it the kids say...OMG.
Anyway, after my heart rate returned to something like normal I checked for damage. Just to say apart from a frazzled switch it looks okay. I will say no more....Mick

Been there, done that also.
Wouldn't be surprised that the toggle switch still works.

Switches are cheap, electronics and houses not so much

Yup - been there done that! Glad all is ok though.

We always wrap tape over the contacts now for just this reason.

Good morning and thank you all, I have now insulated the battery terminals.....stable door. The mini power switch is working, as are all the motion/sound/modules, one lucky old man. I ordered a replacement switch...Mick

HI, I'm in the process of fitting my 'electrics', as I ordered them a few months after I received my Stug. Can you let me know what size batteries you use and if you use a regular source? Where's the best place to buy them? Thanks in advance.

Good morning Keith, good question...and not being one to venture far from the given path...I have always followed the Armortek route. Two Yuasa sealed lead acid batteries at 12volt 22Ah sourced this time from Ebay. Lots of choice, £80 a pair including delivery arrived within three days. I have used the 'Component Shop as well with satisfaction. I also follow the Knowledge Base advice, well worth reading. I have Spectrum radios which suit my reserved nature

There are many builders who are more adventurous... Enjoy you build...Mick.
Oh! and fully insulate your battery connections....

Hello everyone, I am fitting the 'etched ' parts to the mudguards on my Stug, has any one used an adhesive, metal to metal, or just used the screws for the tools.....ick
