Alex, so pleased for you that Father Christmas came early.

Pierce, I feel your pain. I feel the same about the whole film, 90 mins of my life I'll never get back. I was angered and amused in equal measure, not the emotions the director intended. Perhaps a couple of episodes of Band of Brothers would be good therapy. Or watch The Cruel Sea again and again.

The Hetzer is an interesting choice. The Wheatfield Collection has, I believe, three restorations on the go. Although it was a competent AFV, it was only effective in a static defensive situation. In mobile operations, its lack of armour made it very vulnerable. Its saving grace was ease of production, which was critical to the situation the Wehrmacht faced in late 1944. It's another example of a perfectly unexceptional AFV achieving cult status amongst the less informed general public who get their information largely from World of Tanks and YouTube. I'm sure it will be a popular model for Armortek nevertheless.

My favorite is the Hetzer. It's going to be a long wait, almost a year. I'm looking forward to more pictures of the Armortek-Hetzer-construction.

Since some things will probably change in the future when shipping to Germany, I hope that as a private person you can get products over 1000 € through German customs from Great Britain with normal effort.
An Armortek representative / Armortek importer for the EU would be nice.

Y'know some of us just happened to have an interest in Shermans before 'Fury'. I mean what red blooded American man-boy wouldn't?

I agree w Jerry, I liked the E8 waaay before Fury movie! Won't be building a FURY version either! Perhaps 11AD with added applique armor. I love the T66 track too -awesome!

Hi Steve, it is Kevin Wheatcroft who has x4 Hetzer currently under restoration plus at least one that has been fully restored, Kevin also has a large number of Sherman tanks of various different types under restoration I think it was 10 in total plus a few more that are already restored, on top of this staggering list Kevin also has x2 late model Tiger and x2 King Tiger under restoration one completed this will be a very overwhelming collection of tanks and if in the future Kevin was to have his own tank fest I would happily pay £100 or more to attend.

Glad we are all in agreement about Fury... So much fail in that movie!

All I have to say is "Gor-Lam-EE!" For those that get the reference... much better movie! Great dialogue and a fun plot!

I looked up my favorite Sherman, the Cobra King... alas, not an -8. It's now at the new Museum of the United States Army outside DC.

I like the Hetzer as well. Very cool that certainly looks like it set the design standards for some of the post-war Soviet Designs like the BRDM, BMP, BTR and a few others. Low, wide... Neat profile!

What is this "one" nonsense?

Littlefield once had a Hetzer, I never poked under the covers to find out it's pedigree, while I like the Hetzer (I have two in 1/10)
I'm no expert in determining original or G13. Didn't seem to have any remaining features of an ex Swiss G13 but could well have been.
I've read the machine was unpopular with crews due to cramped quarters but there is enough evidence to support that it was effective
in the intended role. When I was at Munster in 1992 for an Army open day and model group gathering I believe there was an ex-Hetzer crewman
in attendance and as I recall he seemed to like his machine just fine. It was relatively inexpensive, had thin side armor but in an ambush role
(remember what 'Hetzer' means) it was deadly. No one will ever claim it was the best of breed of the war years but it left its mark. So kudos

Interesting no-one has yet mentioned an Israeli version - Six Day War etc - or India/Pakistan. The Korean War examples would be interesting too.
