Hi all
Just built up a length of track and wondering should the split pin side be on the inside or outer side of the tank?

I was tempted to have the split pins on the inside and the flat head on the outside because it would look slightly more scale. But I kept the split pins on the outside simply because it's easier to inspect for broken or missing pins.

From experience on Chiefy ARV & ARRV, Challenger ARRV and other armoured vehicles, you preferred it if the outer securing piece broke first.
If the inner securing piece broke first, the track pin would drift outwards. If bazooka plates were fitted on the vehicle, you could get a series of clangs warning you but in the heat of battle, the first thing you might realise was the bazooka plates had been ripped off and the track thrown.
If no bazooka plates on the vehicle, the first indication you got was the vehicle slewing to one side having lost a track.
If the track pin drifts inwards, you get noticable clangs that could not be missed and the impact on the hull pushes the pin back in to the link keeping the track on for a while.
