Wiesel 1A2 TOW

Post by Günter Gäbelein »

Hi all,

I have nearly completed my last model the weapon carrier Wiesel 1A2 TOW. The model is completely designed in 3D, the hull is in aluminum but many parts have been printed in ABS. The parts for the track have been casted in aluminum and assembled with M1.6mm screws and nuts. The wheels and many parts for the chassis are still printed in ABS. The compartment is also rebuild as long as you can see it through the hatches.
All RC technic is placed in the engine compartment, only the battery is placed in the tank at the rear.
The driving gear is from Tamiya Leopard 2. I am still working at the animation of the 3 figures and weathering has still to be done.

Hello Günter!
Very very nice model and firstclass work!!!
It reminds me a lot of my military service. These vehicles were also in our batallion (JgLehrBtl 353).
I would also like a Wiesel, a very handy model.
Regards Michael

Superb Guenther, really detailed model and unusual subject. Good to see one of the less popular AFVs being built. Reminds me of the US M50 Ontos, which was known as “the thing with a sting”. (Mis)used in Vietnam like the M42 Duster.

Good to also see the threaded little ones being taken care of.......

Really nice model Gunther. I hate to call it "cute". Baby tank with a TOW missile launcher! Awesome details! Thanks for sharing.

Hi all,

Her is a view into the engine compartment. The gear is original Tamiya Leopard 2. The controller is placed below the gear. On top of the gear you can see a small housing with the maestro 12 controller and an Ardunino Nano. The aninmation for the crew figures is completely stored at the Maestro 12. However, when the Ardunino Nano receives signals for left, right or back the sequence at the Maestro is stopped and the figurs are controlled by the Arduino in order to have especially the driver looking in the same direction than driving.
