After years of neglect I have dug out my Quad and started putting it together. This pandemic must have been good for some things

I've hit a snag and wonder if anyone else experienced similar? Having read the various forum posts I haven't seen it mentioned but that's not to say.....

The issue I have is that my cab floor assembly will not sit correctly on the top chassis rail. The problem appears to be that the sides of Part EM0318 (centre floor) are too long, and interfere with the wishbone shaped sub-chassis which (I reckon) is meant to fit into the recesses under the floor.

I could cut the sides of EM0318 back, enabling the wishbone to drop in with the floor fixing holes aligned with the fixing holes on the chassis. Before I go cutting into precious metal though I wondered if anyone else had to resort to such action?

Hi Kevin,

You are not alone, I had exactly the same problem.

My solution was to bend the offending ends out to clear the obstruction. Easily done with a pair of pliers.

Relieved to know it’s not just me building it wrong..... I’ll have another look and decide whether to cut or bend. Either way the problem can now be resolved.

No problem Kevin.
This old picture shows my quad before the decals were added. It's a basic build with a few Armorpax parts thrown in.
I didn't bolt the body to the chassis, It makes it reasonable to lift in and out the car and really easy to work on too if required.
The quad is an simple to get out play thing, without having to worry about transportation bits and bobs.
Hoping the UC will be the same

It's taken a while to get to this stage, but at long last I have a basic chassis and things are starting to resemble a quad.

The chassis and interior will be "ex factory" in Khaki Green No.3, with the exterior in Light Stone. There will probably be some artistic licence involved but essentially this model will represent 97th (Kent Yeomanry) Field Regiment, Royal Artillery at the time of El Alamein in October 1942.

I may or may not add a disruptive pattern. I have read that there was definitely a short period when vehicles were painted in a single colour (light stone), which makes life nice and easy if a little lazy. On the other hand, I understand that in My 1942 the Kent Yeomanry had just transferred out of 10th Indian Division and may not have had an opportunity to fully update their vehicle colours or markings. Late 1942 as I understand it, there was a move away from Light Stone to Desert Pink Z1 in conjunction with a disruptive pattern in green or brown. Not every unit will have complied immediately, so it seems I have choice of 3 schemes!!

More to follow as I make progress. Having started a thread I have to knuckle down and get it done.

Vince, that Malta pattern camo is great. Easy to see how it would work against the backdrop of the stone buildings.
