Chieftain Commanders Cupola Detail set
Hi All,
I am about to press the button on the moulds for the Cheiftain Cupola assembly. Before I do this I need a real idea of how may of you are going to want these. Just to get the cold cure moulds made is going to cost a £1000 and if only two of you want them then they are going to be ridiculously expensive. I'm not asking for any money up front but if I don't get sufficient interest from genuine buyers I am not going to risk spending that much cash with no idea yet of how long the current Pandemic is going to make things uncertain.
To put it all into context if only 10 of you want them you are paying £100 a set before I start adding the actual cost of parts and production. I need to know by very early next week if we have enough people to make this a worthwhile risk.
Hope you are all keeping safe and well.
Best regards
Dave

What's included ?
I presume all the gubbins on top shown on Page 11 of the "Chieftain Stuff" thread plus ? Wipers ? Vision blocks ?
Adrian.

Re: Chieftain Commanders Cupola Detail set
Back during last September, I asked about the cupola detail. Being told what you see is what you get.
Not a lot
To me a Chieftain is not a Chieftain without the GPMG/ Cupola detail, and I'm certainly not going to skimp on it now.
So I've brought the wipers and I'm waiting for those other goodies you've got too.
Count me in Dave.

Hi Dave
Definitely count me in, it wouldn’t be a Chieftain without these details.

Hi Dave
Great work to get this far. Would be a shame if they didn’t make it to production. Please add me to the list.
Cheers David

Re: Chieftain Commanders Cupola Detail set
Hi All,
Thanks for all the responses. Just wanted to make people are aware of the cost implications as products that are very specific to a limited batch vehicle have to be priced to cover our outlay. Please keep the replies coming as I will price the product based on the expected number of sales. The more we have the less you each pay. It's not an exact science but if we get it about right we are able to keep offering this type of set. Some sets like the Quad 50 and Morris have not come close to covering the development costs but overall as a business we can cover the odd "we got it wrong"
and with the odd sale here and there they may one day redeem themselves.
I have always tried to keep our prices as affordable as possible and will continue to do so but just need to ensure we are spending our time and money in the right places, especially at the moment as we are being realistic about the lack of show revenue etc this year.
There is enough interest to get this going and I will hold off pricing it until we are closer to production. Maximum price will be £175.00 but this will drop for each order on top of the 10 we can spread the £1000 moulds over when we are ready to go. I do not require any deposits or cash up front but if the expected orders don't materialise it would likely affect products of this type going forward.
The set will be all metal except the 4D M240 base MG, Sight block and Searchlight bowl. The first as it is a plastic kit, the second as we are playing with various resins, as requested, and hope to be able to offer this clear and the third as it will tear cold cure moulds to pieces trying to demould it.
Stay safe and well.
Best regards
Dave
