what happened to the "first" tiger

Post by raymond s pierce »

gentlemen-

i am considering building my tiger as the "first tiger" - the V1
as shown on page 41 (germany's tiger tanks). before i do, i'm trying to find out what happened to this particular vehicle. did it see action? was it disassembled during testing? any insights would be appreciated. there's no real rush, as i am in the zen modeling
phase (still doing it in my head)

oh, by the way; my turret has a "115" stamped on the underside, and an "01" in ink or grease pencil on the rear surface. what do these numbers mean.

Welcome Raymond. It sounds like you have a early tiger. If it's stamped under the turret. My tiger was number 88 . Armortek built 127 of these kits .. Raymond is the model you have built or still in kit form ?? Dale

Hi Raymond,

I used to know what that was like, now I don't have money or time!

Sorry I can help with the info you want on the first tiger V1, I would say your task is nigh on impossible, as the info on production tigers is very sparse, never mind the prototypes.

Paul  .
