Power on Button Red Flashing Light

Post by leslie gamelin »

Hi my son is having problem with the power switch on my Mid Tiger1. He’s being updated and had previously tested and had Dennis Jones set it all up. He’s put his brand new 2 box system which he had brought for his Tiger 131 kit into the tank had all running on bench all working fine tried it and showed me on messenger in all he’d run it about 6 times. Left it for about 3 weeks and when he presses the power on the send light comes on and flashes and goes out no green light. Has tested the battery’s they are showing 25 volts all the way to the switch. Any one else had this problem he’s tried every thing but replacing the switch. has any one els had this problem we belong to SAG and asked a few long standing members suggesting a power drain but he’s getting 25v up to the switch any
One have any suggestions. Will be getting a new power switch from Armourtek’s 😢

Does it flash red and fade away ?

I've seen that on another tank but can't remember what the cure was. I think it was just switching the unit on and then off again straight away, so the LED was just showing the voltage stored in the system as it died.

Is that 25V under load or floating ? Can you measure the voltage and see what happens when you press the button ?

These modules all take a small amount of current, so will drain the battery even when switched off, though I wouldn't have though it would do it in three weeks, unless the batteries are old. I think the new Red boxes include an isolating switch which does completely disconnect the battery.

Hi Adrian they are brand new batteries it’s not under load just on bench and just turning on but not turning on ie green light no power.
Has fitted Armourtek’s new isolating switch has powered up no problem about 6 times no problems. Then flashing red light i think he said it goes off.

As Adrian says, these are the symptoms of a battery emitting the last few electrons.
A little too much is about right...

I've remembered what the previous problem was.

It was a large toggle switch which isolated the batteries from Motion Control Module.

This went faulty, so that when it was in the on position, it didn't have any continuity. But as it went from the off position to the on position, it connected for long enough to charge up the capacitors in the MCM. When the power button was pressed, the light was briefly green, then went red and faded away as the small amount of charge in the MCM was used up.

I would check that there is 24V at the MCM with the breaker on, then see if it turns on or not.
