Tom's Panzer lll Ausf L
I am new to this board and the 1/6 scale model world altogether. I needed a retirement hobby so I took the plunge and bought my first Armortek kit.
I have been working on it for about 3 months now. I sprayed the final clear coat today and the crew was anxious to take it out for a spin. I rolled it out into the sun light for the first time and snapped a few pics. I am now painting the tow cables that attach to the rear deck and deciding what other details to add. The entire top of the tank is not bolted down yet as I am waiting for Armortek to ship me the option packs.
I must say I am very impressed with the quality of this kit. I was actually hoping to do more machine work but everything bolted up with minimal fiddling. UPS just dropped off the FAMO kit and I have a King Tiger on order as well. That should keep me busy for a while.

Nice job Tom, especially the paint and markings. Now if you could only get it together with my old Pz III Ausf N, you'd have a pair of 8 Pz Regt tanks. It's a long way though to Hong Kong. Pz Regt 8 had by far the most unusual markings in the Wehrmacht, all the work of one man, Hauptmann Hans Guenther Stotten, who commanded the remnants of the regiment in the latter days of the Tunisian campaign. He had to cobble together his unit and needed a very visible means of identifying each company, hence the suit of cards markings.

Re: Tom's Panzer lll Ausf L
I haven't seen any photo's of the new electronics installed in a model. I finally got around to installing mine in the Panzer III. Since the new electronics are much smaller installation was a breeze. The audio module volume knob, smoke on/off switch and smoke refill hose are placed where they can be accessed by opening the rear hatches. Next I will install the master on/off switch and battery charging line in the same area.
I bench tested everything before installation. Works great. Getting excited to make my first test run.

Hi Tom
Good to see the fit is improved with the new electronics, I will be ordering mine soon.
A tidy installation.
What battery did you go with?

The batteries are Duracel 12-20 C. ( 12v 20 ah) I used 10 lb Velcro to hold them together and to the floor. Everything else is held in place with standard Velcro.

Hi Tom,
It's a nice built Pzkfw III.
Just curiosity, what is it that under the "REMOVE THIS PROTECTIVE COVER BEFORE USING" sign? A speaker?
Regards,
Lerh Chang

Yes it is a speaker. The speakers come from Armortek with a cardboard protective cover.
