Control box possition

Post by Derek Attree »

Hi Guys
Finally got a bit of time yesterday to look at the electrics
from Option pack 1 on the Panther I have installed the batteries
on their tray.
I have laid them on their side so they sit slightly lower than if they were standing up on the tray is this ok?
I have the 4QDs at the front on the panniers.
I am wondering where you guys have installed the control box
so the switch can be used without taking off the turret and deck?
This is the original power control box not the new p.c.b one.
Could anyone post a picture of the layout of the internals of their Panther
I am sure it would help.
There have been loads of posts on Tiger electrics but the Panther with its sloping sides gives new challenges.

Thanks

Derek

hello derek,

laying the batteries on there sides is ok as long as they are sealed and are the type to operate like this, i mounted my control box behind the batteries so you can gain easy access from the engine hatch, there is a bracket in the kit to do this, then i mounted all the other electrics on the left hand side pannier top , dont know if you have sound and smoke but the sound i mounted right at the back of the pannier tops, both sides for the speaker and sound control box, the relay for the smoke control i mounted again on the left side but on the top deck strenghning brace, i cant post pictures on the forum but i can e-mail some to you if you want, send me an e-mail if you want, with yours.
hope this helps a little, chris.

Hi Guys
If any of you have a picture I would be interested.I am planning a smoke unit in the future and I have the sound unit.I have the 22 amp hour batteries.
The problem is I can't see how to get to the control box switch with the batteries in the tray I thought it should be switchable through engine hatch.

Thanks again

Hi Derek and Chris

I have not been able to get the control box in a location where I can easily access the switch. I plan on wiring an extension to the switch to allow for this at a later date.

Would be interested to see a photo as well how others have located the box and/or switch.

Regards

Tim
