Re: Chieftain Prototype Build
Wow indeed, I'm looking at the available space over the motors for those half engines (plural), or if I move the motors and gearboxes towards the middle of the hull I would then have a blank canvas, albeit the chain drives in the way, so much to think about
Could I be cheeky and ask the boss to just place a rule into the engine bay and let us know the distance available between the deck and the motors please? It might seem trivial but it's something that I need really to discuss with the guy that is going to produce the model engine.
Looking at the photo I think I may be able to slip the vertically apposed L60 in between those electric motors, well a good percentage of it anyway. If at all possible I want the fan drives to be functional, with maybe the flywheel spinning also.

Looking very nice but the back decks really need the T-Piece, and if it is to be realistic then the serial number ( VRN ) needs to be on the T-Piece as well as on the hull.

Would the VRN be the Registration No or a Chassis No? Also, would it be raised or stamped in?

Re: Chieftain Prototype Build
Machining of the turret has started. First op has been to mill a flat surface and a recess for the turret ring to eventually fit.
Ruler is just there to give a size comparison .. that is not really how we measure

You know that steel rule......would you mind just slipping into that beautiful engine bay perchance
That thing is huge, for a second I thought that was a 6" steel rule!

Re: Chieftain Prototype Build
We have made some good progress on the prototype over the last couple of days.
Turret has been machined as well as the front armour. Pretty pleased with how it has all turned out so far.
