Late Tiger Cupola.

Post by Glen Clark »

Has anybody got any pictures of a late Tiger 1 cupola?I know the cupola is cast iron on the real Tiger but i suspect the cast texturing on mine may be a little crude.I don't want to put the periscope armour and weld seams on if I reed to tone down the cast texturing.

Thanks Adrian,The pics I've seen look similar but more like a cast finish.I suspect my finish is a bit too much.....bugger,I like how it looks aswell.I think I am going to need to tone it down.

It all adds to the build experience.😊

Glen, see if these help. The cupola was cast but has a relatively smooth surface. It was welded to the turret roof.

Wow! Thank you for that.I will need to tone it down a bit but I shall put some cast detail on it.I might flat it down with scotchbrite and see how it looks.

I've toned it down a bit,I need to try my hand at the weld seams and etch prime it now and see how it looks.

I'm not sure which way I'm going to do the welds,I've got Milliput,3d fabric paint and also the plastic putty....we shall have a go at each to see which is best.

I decided to go with the Milliput,I realise that some of you can do this in their sleep but it's the first time for me.Some of the welds look like they have been done by a Giant but it's 6th scale so I am a Giant.😁
