Hi Stephan, I did use the later system, having served from Feb 1985 to Feb 2007. And it was the same matrix no matter what cavalry unit I was attached to. Sometimes the attached Inf did not seem to be using the same system ?

Only confused me twice.
1) another callsign came up on the net using my callsign and CI. Quick panic, was I using the correct CI.
2) BATUS, commanding the CRARRV and about 6 Km behind the battle during the TES phase due to having to recover / fix tanks. Was instructed over the net to cease movement as I had driven into a minefield. No minefield markers visible, no other vehicle in sight. Turned out the umpire had incorrectly identified the affected vehicle and come up on the wrong net. We got a much needed break whilst working that one out before we could carry on and rejoin the Sqn.

Are Armortek aware that they need to put the model number on the engine bay T-Piece as well as on the chassis ?
Due to drilling inaccuracies and distortion of hulls, this was one part that was not interchangeable and needed to stay with the tank.

My first unit, QRIH Münster, Jan 87, we were disposing of the Chiefies and getting Challenger 1s. Due to the prep work the T-pieces were out on the tank park. It snowed heavily and they were hidden. 2 tanks had to go at short notice so it was a case of dig out and find two T-Pieces that fitted. The next two
tanks also were not a problem, we found T-pieces that fitted, the same for the next two. The last 6 were a problem, we had 6 tanks and 6 T-Pieces, we would fit 5 and the sixth would just not fit. It took us about 2 weeks shuffling them around until we found a combination that worked.

A question for the guy's in the black overalls, did you use bergens and maybe 58 webbing, or just bergens?

Morning Phil. Known as MIB (Men in Black). I don't recall being issued with a bergen, I had to liberate one from a Booty mate. We were issued with 58 pattern webbing and used the large pack. Tanks crews like to freestyle it and so you could find all sorts of "Gucci kit" - it was the era when Gortex first appeared. I did use an old kitbag but with a full length zip. It was a question of what you could stow in the baskets. We discovered that certain infantry regiments (particularly the Canadian Vingt-deux) were prone to brassing up tank bins with live ammunition when we were closed down. Seemed to amuse them at the time. The answer was to let loose a main armament round when they were close - made their ears ring. You knew when you'd been hit, it was the feathers from the sleeping bags which gave the game away.

I'm looking for one sixth black overalls - do I remember one of the Dragon panzer crew having them?

Stephen, Would the Dragon “Terry Davis” overalls do the trick if dyed black?
