Re: Adam's Panzer III build
I ended up just getting the M6x25 locally as I live 8 blocks from Fastenal. Now I’m working on getting all of the suspension shafts installed and at the proper angle specified in the manual of 20 degrees. As I install each one I mark the suspension shaft using the locking grub. I then machine a small flat in that area to prevent the assembly from slipping as I’ve read in other posts. I’m also labeling each assembly in case I need to disassemble later on.

I thought I’d jump ahead a bit to get a feel for what she’s going to look like.

That looks great. ‘She’ looks very athletic.

Re: Adam's Panzer III build
'She' certainly is 'athletic'. I borrowed Armortek's prototype for a show last year, while she is not Uhsain Bolt she is fast and nimble, no lumbering Tiger this one.. I had no problem manoeuvring around the legs of youngsters, one opened their legs and let me drive through and do a figure of eight while his mum filmed it. All the parents were impressed with it's manoeuvrability
It makes a Tiger look like a Dalek!! .

Re: Adam's Panzer III build
If you have got the Motion and Smoke pack, now is a good time to install the Smoke pack onto the Floor, CL0719 and the floor into the Hull.
CL0719 comes with the Motion pack and keeps the batteries and Electronics clear of the Torsion bars.
If you haven't got the Motion Pack and want to install it later, The Rear Plate CL0104 fitted on Page 2 has to be removed to slide it in. Not to mention having to lift off the two upper hull halves to get the electronics and Batteries in.
Regards

Re: Adam's Panzer III build
I should have the motion and smoke kits arriving some time this month. I'm only putting all of this together loosely to kind of see the final product to plan for the painting and finishing details. I will then be taking everything apart for some fine tuning. This is definitely the largest model I've ever put together. I'm a bit excited for the King Tiger, which I plan on getting, and it's supposed to be much bigger!

Spray Booth
Hopefully things can move a bit more quickly now. The weather has not been very cooperative for painting so I ended up getting a spray booth I can use indoors.

So I’ve tried out a few different filler compounds now (Milliput, JB Weld, Bondo) and I’ve settled with the Milliput. I’m currently finishing the suspension arms and even attempted a weld. What do you think? Too much weld or am I overthinking?

Priming and painting
I primed the suspension arms and I think it looks good! I’ve started painting the wheels with an airbrush paint. I may look to try to match using an auto paint, it may be cheaper. Anyone done this?

Re: Adam's Panzer III build
I did get some auto paint. Very good stuff! Ended up with a two stage PPG Omni and flat clear mix. Worked out very well.

You know, I'm really actually liking the green of my primer oddly enough. I may do the next one in that color even though it may not be a traditional color.

Arms and Wheels Painted
I finally got the control arms and wheels done (before weathering), now it’s time to start getting the main body torqued up, filled and painted.

Re: Adam's Panzer III build
It’s been a busy few weeks but I finally got a chance to get the lower chassis painted. I’ll let it cure over the week then start reassembling.
