Paint Mask

Post by Vince Cutajar »

Today I came across this:

http://www.fieldofarmortanks.com/hq-ti0 ... aint-mask/

It seems to be a paint mask kit. Has anybody used it or something similar? Is it any good? I tried to search for more information about this product but could not find anything.

Vince, and everyone listen. These are awesome. The manufacturer has passed away. It was in their newsletter. The remaining stock will be all the masks left. I have since stocked up and highly recommend.

That's good to know Brian. Do they have a website I can look at? I am hoping to see instructions of how to use them.

Thanks Adrian. I still can't see that link in Brian's message but I used your link to have a look. So I guess these masks are for the symbols, markings and numbers. I thought they would have masks for the camouflage also. I doubt if this system will work on a zimmerit (rough) surface.

I think Adrian meant your message Vince. As in the link you provided.

It will work on Zimmerit. Using an airbrush the paint can be lightly sprayed in a highly controlled manner to achieve realistic results.

There are many techniques to masking for slightly hard edge but still soft edge camo. Ranging from moistened toilet paper to blue tack. I will try to find a picture of an example.

Here are two different paint mask videos. The third video is Andy’s Hoobys showing what you can do without a paint mask. If you have never seen Andy in action before he is one of the best on YouTube and his videos are easy to watch and he has lots of them!

Vince, they are insignia paint mask only. The camo is better off coming from you anyway. I actually have the one you posted in the first post and that is the tank I want to paint also. I guess we have similar taste! Even if we both tried to make them look the same it will end up looking different so go ahead and do the pattern you like. Maybe you can practice the camo on a shoebox to get the technique that works for you.
