Transom Clamps

Post by Dave Dibb (Armorpax) »

Hi All,

Made a good start on the transom clamp masters tonight. Hopefully get these finished tomorrow and off to the metal casters. I have made the parts so they will fit a 2.5mm button head and nut. These aren't going to be strong enough for heavy use and clamping the sections together but they should at least be strong enough to hold in place.

Best regards

Dave

This is amazing work Dave. I was wondering if at 1/6th scale you need to make your masters slightly larger like they do for full size castings?

Hi Graham,

I have always made at the size I want. I have never had an issue with resin and metal parts not fitting even though they are produced from two different process. This may sound odd but I build from pictures generally rather than dimensions and drawings and aim to capture the piece I am work on so it matches what I see in the photo. My dimensions may not therefore be 100% accurate but to me the finished piece looks right. This seems to have worked for quite a few years now so will probably stick with it :-)

Best regards,

Dave

Hello Dave,

very nice clamps although for 2.5 Meters of bridge I might need a lot of them. :D Are you planning to do more detailing for the Bailey Bridge?

Kind regards,

Pieter
