WW1 Tanks

Post by michael hilton »

There is an article in 'The Mail' online newspaper, with coloured photographs of WW1 tanks. An interesting read for the guys building these models. Have a look...Mick

Mick -

Thanks for these. They're pretty standard pictures, I'm afraid. In order:

Mark V Males with cribs (mid- late-1918)
Mark I Male (Somme, September 1916)
Mark V Female (training)
Mark I Female (1916)
Mark IV Female (captured, probably post-Cambrai)

The most interesting one is the one you posted first, on Saturday. That shows how the Germans recovered abandoned tanks post-Cambrai. They jacked them up, put a carriage underneath, and took them off to Charleroi to be cannibalised / renovated into Beutepanzers.

Chris
Mark IV (Liesel, Abteilung 14, France 1918)
M3 Lee (25 Dragoons, Burma 1944)
Universal Carrier (2/Wiltshires, Italy 1944)
Panther (Deserter, 145 RAC, Italy 1944)
Centurion Mk 3 (8KRIH, Korea 1950/51)
Morris Quad, 25-pdr & limber (45RA, Korea 1951)
