Lovely morning chaps, time to fettle the lawn and nip out the side shoots on the tomato plants. Progress on my 'Rollers' rear end. Once assembled the differential, axle cases, leaf springs and prop shaft cases, are firm and secure. The prop and drive shafts rotate smoothly and freely...so, all is well.
I have 'infilled' the small gap left by turning the axle cases back in order to line up the leaf spring pins, with Milliput. Merely to give a more finished look, it serves no other useful purpose.

Back to the Roller...the final drive was a little tight....so I stripped the differential down and removed the 'Milliput'. Rebuilt the drive and axles resulting in a very smooth drive train. I did take a file to the part EPO205 at the axle ends where the 'pin' is located, this allowed the axle end to locate and float in the differential smoothly. The drive from the prop shaft to the wheels is good. I was hoping it would rain this weekend...just an excuse to stay in doors and build....sad really....mick

Be careful what you wish for.....I did ask for rain....a deluge no less...I thought I would 'flash' over the chassis with etch primer...stinks somewhat, and I used a mask....Mick

I have been following your build.
And have had similar problems re too long screws, too short screws etc.
Anyway I have managed to get to a vaguely working rear axle/ drive shaft combination.
BUT I have a couple of queries.
1)diag10 shows 2.5*16 pin inserted into EP0203. The latter screws into EP0201 and according to instructions screw fully home. Problem the location of the pin and leaf springs don’t match what I think is required to work.
2) EP0210 is a right ******* to screw fully home. Looking at the drawing one could eliminate the thread and just loctite the tube in situ with the top hole in the correct orientation.


Anyway has anybody got any thoughts on how I can overcome my current problem.

Hello Dave, reference your question regarding EPO203 and the 2.5x16 pins. Screw the rear axle case up tight against EPO201 differential case, and then turn the rear axle EPO203 back until the 'pin' (which holds the rear leaf springs) is upper most. You will find that the axle cases are loose in this position however, when you have built the completed rear axle/differential/torque tubes etc and located these parts along with the springs onto the chassis, the whole structure is firm. I found that I had to turn one axle case back about a quarter turn and the other axle case back about half a turn. This did not effect the working of the differential or the operation of the rear springs.....Mick

Thank you for that, the idea of turning the sub axles back till the
Pin was uppermost passed through my mind. But I was a tads confused by the
Statement on the diagram to screw up till tight.

Good morning, couldn't wait to test the drive differential and axles, so I fitted the drive motor and linked it to one of the 12volt batteries. The first attempt produced a distinct 'wobble' on the prop shaft. I started to strip the diff assembly and then realised the prop shaft was not seating properly in the gear box end, cup joint CJO440. The grey matter finally kicked in....I had the flywheel located up against the drive motor...which caused the problem. Set the flywheel back towards the gearbox, which then allowed the prop to fit in the cup joint.....the Good Lord is watching over me....Mick

This is my first Armortek kit and have followed all the advice, and thanks it has helped a lot. But I have a query, what nuts and screws do you use to bolt together EP0201? there is no M2 x 6 cap heads and using M2.5 the nuts do not fit against the casing flush. Looking at your photos you seem to managed it, any advise will be appreciated.

Good morning Jimbo, the M2 x 6 Cap bolts are short, I used M2 x 10 Cap, purchased off 'Boltbase', on ebay. There is a reference to the differential build on page one of my post, best wishes. No further building at the moment, World Cup of Football is top dog in this household, at least for the time being. I do know of at least one other who is well sick to the back teeth of football, Mick
