I was looking at the current photos of 131's breech and I have noticed that there is a discrepancy with the photos before it was restored. the word braun ark now appears on the recoil guard as well as the right dampener. So my question is, should it be there?
Paul.

Re: Tiger 1 breach markings
Hi Paul
I was under the impression that braun ark referred to the type of oil in the recoil dampers and as such having it on the recoil gaurd would seem to be incorrect.
Regards
Steve

Re: Tiger 1 breach markings
braunark is indeed a type of oil used not only in Tigers but all other German guns, above where its painted today on the recoil guard this is the device which measures the distance the gun recoils it may well have been lubricated with this type of oil.
