CHARGING THE RECEIVER BATTERY

Post by Jeffrey Goff »

Hi can anyone help, I am trying to enclose all of the electronics, in the halftrack, and for ease and aesthetic reasons, would like to connect a Y lead to the receiver battery, so it could be charged in situ; if the main control pannel / fuse box was turned off, would there be any problems.

regards
Jeff

How about using a BEC (battery eliminator circuit), which provides the necessary 4.8V by reducing the 24V from the main battery.

That way you only have to ensure the main batteries are charged.

Adrian.

Hi Adrian, this sounds like a good idea, but I thought the seperate battery
acted as a failsafe, just in case the motors pulled an excessive load on the batteries, and dropping the voltage on the B.E.C, or is this unlikey

Jeff,

I'm sure Vice used to do voltage regulators to give 5v from a 12v supply, but as you say if the batteries go down then you could loose the radio. I think some of the smarter ESC's cut out the motor supply before the Rx supply to protect against loss of control but the 4QD's don't have the BEC feature.

Thanks Allan, I think I will connect the battery to a three way switch, this way i can charge using a socket.
