V2 rocket wanted.

Post by Phil Woollard »

Strange one this, Jim will know what I'm up to! I'm looking for a 1/6th scale V2 rocket, I believe a fibre glass flying model exists as a kit in the States.
I wonder if Armortek could roll one up for me? (I'm serious to)..........Cheers Phil.

Big init even in 1/6th. If the figures were 12" high then the rocket would be?

Hi Jim, That's very kind of you, I think it may be a bit short but would be a good start , bung it in the post along with the smoker and let me know what I owe you.( when the Post office ask you whats in the parcel, tell them it's a beanybaby!) :D
I think the rocket would scale at around 6 to 7 feet or so!
I will get the TX back to you within the next couple of weeks.
The Tiger 1 and Tiger 2 are safely in the workshop ready for their makeovers, I will start a thread for the Tiger 2 refurbishment for all to see. regards Phil.

Hi Phil, I can't help with a V2 but I know where there is a 1/6th V1 for sale. its near you, well its at Swanage.

http://www.tigercollectibles.co.uk/onli ... .aspx?id=Z

It was built by Peter Shaw for the Von Abt group, there are pictures on Marks site. Peter did make a V1 but good luck getting him to part with it.

I believe that a 1/6 V2 rocket would be aprox 2.33 meters high.

Hi Paul, interesting stuff, regarding the V1, I have sent an email. The V2 that belongs to Peter, I don't think he will part with it :( but you never know).
Your not going to believe this, when I was in the first year of my apprenticeship I worked on a scaled down pulse jet (can't say what we were doing but it was very important to say the least).
When we finally got the thing to run it was pushing out dangerous levels of db, ear pugs and ear defenders were necessary. It's a very simple machine with just one moving part, the petal valve. The exhaust needed to be a tuned length to create the right amount of pressure as the fuel is burnt, this being petrol and ignited by a trembler coil and spark plug. Basically the smaller the pulse jet the more pulses/second it produced!
The WW2 version was fairly slow to pulse as can be heard in the old footage that exists.
I still have the operators manual that I had to write that went with the unit.

Hi Tim, thanks for the length cal, much appreciated.

Regards Phil.

Phil- have a quick look at Lorenzo Jalbert's work on YouTube- he built one. His 1/6 scale stuff (all radio controlled) is amazing. Walking figures, horses, row boats everything.

Hey Phil, that's not a problem, coz the V1 is actually a flying bomb, so the pulse jet will be fine

Thank you for that comment Tim :D , we digress, so back on topic, the V2 will look great on a towed vehicle adapted from the flak 36 bogies Don't you think. A very impressive vehicle and crowd puller at any Armortek attended show, I think a transport trailer rather than a launch vehicle as the flak 36 has only two axles? This being more practicle
