New engine for Panther
Hello to all,
on request, I am preparing a new Panther engine, HL230 P30.
It will have the same features as the P45, but with all the different parts as the real one.
Air filters will be cyclones, but asymmetric as they are true.
Dust tanks will be fixed with the brackets and not resting on the heads.
I would like to play a AUTOUNION engine, so with many different parts: water valves, fuel filters, oil filters, starter motors, oil tank tube, head caps, drain hood covers
with sleeves.
Will be produced few pieces numbered to order.
Here are the first 3D sampling.
If you have tips and suggestions you will be well received.
Thanks.

Re: New engine for Panther
I had to redesign filters because they were not perfect, they're okay now.
During assembly, it is essential that the parts are aligned and perfectly horizontal. It could be easier to remove the pins from the brackets and pasted. The choice is yours. Decals and photo engravings have to arrive, so it should be ready.
I do not illustrate the complete assembly because it is the same as the P45, only a few details change.

Re: New engine for Panther
It may be easier to glue the brackets
first on the "gutters" then align them on the heads.
This is not an easy but fundamental operation to build well.
Before you paste it, try it several times, it's very important. Also check the distances, the filters must remain blocked. Adjustment may be necessary, remember that it is a craft product.
It is done by hand one at a time, not with a CNC machine.

Re: New engine for Panther
Dear friends, I think it is expedient to publicly apologize to the people waiting for the Tiger1 engine to ship. Unfortunately there have been problems with the couriers causing strikes and I am late with deliveries. These days the goods (resin, bolts, etc.) started to arrive again. I will try to do as soon as possible but it's all done by hand and I'm alone. I apologize again, hoping that everyone will understand that it is not my fault.
Thanks again. Ivano

The holidays have passed and we start again.
I completely redid the "gutters" and supports.
Much more precise. Now everything seems perfect.
Remember that it is essential that everything is aligned,
before gluing, do not get tired of trying many times until everything is
correctly positioned

Re: New engine for Panther
Many modellers write to me interested in the engine, thank you.
As written at the beginning, only by reservation. I am obliged to request a 50% deposit for two reasons:
I) many have booked the Tiger1 engine, I trusted and then, after preparing the certificates with the name, they canceled the purchase
II) in this engine there are many pieces made with 3D printing because they are too difficult to make at home. The cost is considerable and I am not a trader.
I can not anticipate this cost.
Excuse me but I can not do otherwise.
Reservations for the first 5/6 engines are open until 10 February.
Deliveries at the end of March
For information on the cost, contact me in private.
Thanks again. Ivano

Re: New engine for Panther
Some modellers ask me if the Panther engine can be mounted on the King Tiger. Yes, King Tiger was equipped with the Maybach HL 230 P30 engine as in the panther. The thing that distinguished him was a fan mounted on the back.
The device at the back of the Maybach is called the Sirocco fan and is ONLY on Tiger II and Jagdtiger. While there is still a mystery surrounding exactly how it works, it appears that under normal operating conditions it provides cooling air to the transmission and to the crew compartment. On the first Tiger II equipped with a snorkel ford, it seems that the air enters the snorkel and this fan pushes the snorkel air to all parts of the tank, including the engine compartment, the gearbox and the crew. In any case, this Sirocco fan is only found on the Tiger II series.
For those interested in mounting the engine on a King tiger, I can reproduce this detail.

Re: New engine for Panther
Some modellers ask me why the P 30 costs little more than the P 45.
As I said, there are more pieces of the Tiger1 engine, many details are different and many pieces are made in 3D because it is not possible to make them with silicone molds. The biggest cost concerns the "snails" of the filters, they are 48, all in 3 D and there are many discards. There are all decals, filters, starter motor and dynamo.
Also available the sirocco fan for Tiger II (King).
However, it does not cost any more than the other static engines on the market.

Re: New engine for Panther
Friends,
I am very happy to inform you that the sales of the Panther tank engine exceeded even the most optimistic forecasts.
Thanks to all of you who wanted to repay my work.
Given the success, I can practice for everyone, a discount of € 60 on the price
communicated privately. Even to those who have already paid the deposit. I hope this satisfies everyone and helps those who think the engine is too expensive.
Thanks again Ivano
