Hi Folks

I think the actual number produced was 91 in the end, this is the later one with the MG and mostly thrown into the Italian campaign. I have my order in anyway !!!

Bryan.

91 Ferdinands, sent to Russian, the remains of which were rebuilt as 48 Elefants.

Only 1 of the 3 remaining Elefant companies went to Italy the other 2 companies stayed in Russian until sometime in 1944 when Schwere Panzerjager Abteilung 653 changed to Jagdtiger its rumoured that the remaining 3 Elefant served in the defence of Berlin

I wonder how this beast will sound with the gas/electric drive system motion pack (simulated of course) 2x v12 HL120s, powering a generator running x2 electric motors? Could be interesting. :)

I am wondering what they will do for the sound. I am sure it would have been quite unique and not possible to record now from an original.

I wonder whether or not the gas motor rpms followed the electric motor rpms and vice versa. Maybe the gas motor rpms could be held at full speed to have power enough for the electric system when sudden moves were needed?

This autumn (in 2017!) I spoke to a guy who was still driving Pz IV, Tiger and Kingtiger himself in 1944 / 45 in a tank maintenance department near Berlin. They also got an Elephant, and this guy spoke of a "very strange sound; unsynchronized with the movements". But he saw this beast only from the out side.......
kind regards
Gerhard
