Mike Stannards 1:6th sale Icons stuff is really good. It is just a shame you cannot still get the glass prisms for them. You can still get the resin ones, but the glass ones actually worked

Hi All,

After looking at photos of the drivers and radio operates hatches and taking some measurements from David Byrden tiger tank info site I decided to start from scratch and try and make my own. They is still a lot of work to be done on these but the work is on hold now until I receive the new periscopes that I have ordered from FOA.

I have also been trying to fit the rear S-mine brackets but have been finding these brackets very difficult to make and fit. Again taking measurements from David Byrden tiger tank info site I decided to add a bit of metal to the rear corners of the rear plate. So I am now going out to the tank building factory to see if I can now fit the S-mine brackets.

Hi David,

Great work on your drivers and radio operators hatches. I would be lost without the work of David Byrden and his web site. He is quite quick at replying if you cant find what you are looking for

I also love the blanking plates for the lights and S-mines. if you are making your own S-mines, give me a shout as I still have the measurements for them.

Thanks for your kind words. Yes I agree the David Byrden website is a great source of information unfortunately I do struggle with access to this website I think it is because my PC is starting show its age. I am in negotiations with the minister of finance about getting a new PC.

As regards about the S-mine I am not sure if I am going to fit any on my model if I do I will get in touch with you about them, thanks for the offer.

Hi All,

Finally managed to fit the rear S-mine brackets, I not going to say how many brackets ended up in bin before I finally got them to fit and look something like they should.

I have fitted the new periscopes that I received from FOA and I have to say the quality of these periscopes are very good. The hatches are more or less finished they just need a strip down and clean and then they will be ready for painting.

Thanks for your kind words much appreciated. These armortek kits offer the model builder so much choice, they make a nice model straight from the box or you can make any upgrades you want and spend a few years making your own version.

Love what you're doing David. Pleasure to read a good build log, pity there aren't more on the Forum, to share techniques and skills. You're quite right too about the different approaches to building. I must be Armortek's worst sort of customer - I'm surprised to look back to see that I started my Cent blog five years ago. Kent probably holds the record though for the longest build.
