Sherman Firefly 1C info

Post by Allan Richards »

All,

I guess its time to use this excellent new forum and add some topics.

I'm converting my Sherman to firefly 1C and need some sketches or photos of the engine radiator cover detail. This is the hinged cover imediately behind the turret and is the same as that on the 1/16th Tamiya Sherman. Any offrs gratefully recieved.

Dave,

I have this book, which is excellent but doesn't show me what I want. Shots looking down on the decks of tanks are quite rare.

Yes - but they were the only Firefly images of a rear deck I could find. Sorry to have disappointed you.

Allan,

The Tamiya cd on the Sherman should have some overhead sketches of the deck of all variants of the Sherman.

Mike,

I have the Tamiya 1/16th Sherman which I am using for the principle dimensions as the rear deck is exactly the same as the Firefly 1C. All I was after was a picture of the cover over the engine radiator and ideally the cover lifted to see what was underneath and what the genreal arrangement was.

Sorry about that Allan.
You need pictures of the cover showing detail and of the cover open so you can see details underneath
Finding a picture of the cover open may be somewhat difficult

If I come across any I will certainly let you know

Mike,

Thanks, I've started making the cover itself and I could easily make it look just like the Tamiya one but as you say it would be nice to get some more detail.
