For Jeffrey or anyone that knows?

The four cable drums attached to the mudguards,

Am I to assume that these were for electrical communication
cables. ie. telephone.

Or something else?

Hi Stewart, I think the cables were used for data transmission between linked 88s and the predictor, when used in an anti aircraft set-up.
but I might be wrong

Hi Jeff
I have searched for ages and I agree that the cables are for
linking batteries of guns to a control tower or predictor unit
whether fixed or mobile.

There are some interesting photos and drawings of the gun at
http://www.afrikakorps.org/dreaded88.htm

I wonder if anyone does decals at this scale and or number plates
for German vehicles?

My kit is about 90% complete but I have no idea how to post
pictures here?

My father was an artificer WOII in the 8th army and during the desert
campaign his unit used to recover damaged and broken down vehicles
from both sides.

88s were one of his favourites. When he moved up to Italy his and american units recovered and repaired them and put them back into service.

Jeff your rebuild is fabulous.

Regards Stewart

Hi Stewart, Tim Catton makes number plates, they are superb, and etched from nickel silver, and painted white with black numbers, and you have a choice of army, luftwaffe or SS, if you would like to know how to post pictures, send me a PM, and I will get back to you

Jeff
