Need help please.

Post by peter karlsson »

Hi!!

This is from Mark.

I have been in email contact with Peter Karlsson reference purchasing his Kingtiger kit.
The show-stopper at present is that it is a blank-firer model which due to personal reasons I am totally averse to, and therefor want one with recoil, and lack of information on the conversion process.
I would be grateful for all information on converting the kit.
I can be contacted by email at bodger319@t-online.de
Many thanks in advance for any assistance.
Mark Heaps

Kindest regards
Mark

I don't have a King Tiger but it looks from the drawings as though Mark may have had recoil in mind when he designed the KT barrel assembly.

To get a decent amount of recoil distance, you would have to bore out the gun pivot in order to allow the barrel to retract into it but I can't tell from the drawings whether there is sufficient metal on the gun pivot for this to be possible.

You may be able to get a small amount of recoil by removing some of the rear of the barrel so that it can move inside the main mantlet. The relative diameters of the various parts will dictate how much play there would be and, given the length and weight of the barrel, it's likely to be difficult to get it to recoil smoothly and, as it won't be rigidly fixed inside the mantlet, it may well bounce about when the tank is in motion.
