Headlight / Signal Horn

Post by William Lewis »

I'm trying to either purchase or fabricate the single headlight and the trumpet style signal horn as used on WW2 T34-85. Anybody have any ideas , suppliers or part dimensions.

Thank You

Do you have an idea of the diameter you need for the light ?

I've thought about using one of the model boat search lights:

Hi William,

Several good walk arounds on Prime Portal Battlefield website.

The T34/85 at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, USA has a badly damaged light, but an original trumpet style siren/horn. The T34 light is a big beastie, and you may want to consider small torch reflectors rather than miniature types.

Are you mounting the light next to the drivers hatch or on the side of the vehicle, as per APG example?

Could be a good candidate for 3d printing/whitemetal casting.

cheers
Fabrice

Hi William,

Schinck has such a light, if I correctly remember it was about 25mm. The side is currently offline, so I can't post a direct link. http://www.schink-1-8.de
Have fun building, Kind regards
Christian

Thanks guys for your quick responses. This headlight would be mounted on the side of vehicle. I think the 1/8 scale headlight 24.5mm diameter for a truck that I believe Christian was referring to looks like a really good possibility.

Thanks Again
William

Hi William,

Just noticed on Armortek Forum T/34 section, that you are looking for T34 Headlight & Horn.

I cobbled together, made my side head light and horn from.

Headlight from a Panzer III Front light and a Horn from Dave's Armorpax 1/6th German Vehicle Horn ( AP150-GR).

Thanks lan, for the horn info, I may use parts from that kit and add the trumpet to it. Your drawings have been very helpful, especially on how you made those unique tow hooks.
Also, what diameter is your headlight?

Thanks Again
William

Hi William,

This is the Panzer III front headlight I adapted to create my own headlight for the side of the T34-85.

Diameters on the headlight are Width 1 inch or 25 mm.

A yes those T34 Tow Hooks, they were fun to make for sure!

Hope this helps you to create your own headlight and trumpet horn for your T34.

Cheers
