Turret Drive and Machine Gun pivot action

Post by John Pissey »

Hi All

Another few question to sink your teeth into. I have spoken to Vince Abbott, but only briefly, about his cable pivot design front MG system and the horizontal mounted turret drive. He is very busy making models for movies and could not help me much. I'm interested though in operating my MG like his and was wondering if anyone has made a pivot cable action like his?
I am also interested in a horizontal mounted drive for my turret. The vertical motor restricts the size and style of batteries I will be using since my battery location is directly under my turret. So if you have any suggestions as to where I can get a horizontal drive I would be interested.

Thanks
John

The motor Vince used is made by DOGA in Spain. From a quick Google it appears that they make windscreen (windshield) wiper motors.

RS Components in the UK list fourteen 24V DOGA brand motors:

From here you need to find the speed and torque of the existing motor and try and match it to one of these ones. You'll also need to match the end shaft for the drive gear, or replace it with one to match both the shaft and the gear ring. Or make a new gear ring

DOGA over your side of the pond are here:
