Hi chaps
What size do I need to drill the bore of my machine guns to fit an led and wire for gun flash?
Thanks
Chris

Re: Mg bore size?
I think the LEDs are 3mm, so if you drill it out to 3.5mm you should have enough clearance.
Some LEDs have a lip around the base to clip them into panel mounts, so you may need to file that off.
Adrian.

Re: Mg bore size?
Chris,
I used Armorpax's .30 Cal white metal barrel detail kit on my Sherman hull. Due to the perforated sleeve of the mg barrel, I drilled out the barrel 2mm and then drilled and reamed out the solid muzzle to allow the LED to be glued inside, this was soldered to fine wire which was fed back down the barrel. Once nicely seated, the muzzle was expoxied to the barrel, making sure to keep it all true. It will be difficult to replace the LED but given their life it is not likely to be my problem.
I rigged up the ballmount to an eccentric cam and self powered sound FX speaker, so the gun vibrates with mock recoil, LED flashes and sound eminates from the correct end of the tank, all without interrupting engine sound and all at the flick of a switch. Simplz!
cheers,
Fabrice

I have drilled the perforated barrel in brass tube to get the correct spacing of the holes.I just have to make the inner barrel and drill it for the led
I like your set up though
