Re: 6 new jerry cans - on Ebay
Hi Mike
It is a good deal, I believe these are the plastic versions from "dragon".
I must make interested parties to be aware though, this supplier failed to supply actual tin version jerry cans from "soldiers story" I ordered from him/her at the end of August 2014, waiting for 2 months for two orders that failed to arrive. Beware sometimes the supplier on ebay does not always carry the "more than ten" in stock as listed and may depend on other unknown suppliers to supporting them who could in turn let them down.
There's also some misleading descriptions, calling jerry cans "metal oil drums" too! Which turn out to be plastic Jerry cans. If your not sure ask a question, they nearly always answer and you may get a laugh with their pigeon english, as if mines any better.
Sure, you can get your money back, but sending them back can be expensive or sell on, bite the bullet and order proper one's from else where if that's what you want.
I needed thirteen same colour metal Jerry cans for the dressing of a Sdkfz 7, but that became a very expensive game ordering from the US, as the US suppliers by law are expected to put costs on post details and US custom's can be hard on breakers of their laws.
Then the British import tax man wants a cut, anything from 20% or more on items costing over £20 approx, Mr Postie wants a paper work charge of £9.00 a pop and it all becomes a pain if you don't have a credit card.
I've had a few things pass though but you can sometimes come a cropper.
If you buy small, $25 or less the import tax man may not show an interest, which makes the small single item free posts from outside the county a much better deal.
I can symperthize with sellers on ebay when buyers complain about postage, who think the item is going to wrap itself, take itself to the post office and pay for signed for. Which is the only way I'll send something so that I know that it has got to the buyer unless instructed not to do so. I always say check the cost of post, if you don't like it, don't bid.
Happy new year to all
and may all your orders arrive timely, safe and sound.

Re: 6 new jerry cans - on Ebay
I think the worse ones are the resin molded Jerry cans. They have weight, but I spent over half an hour trimming one to remove the flashing then you have to fill, then paint.
They can look very good when done well, but in the end we buy fully machined metal tanks and prime movers, not airfix kits. So if the parts are available I'm gonner buy them. Now then has any body got some proper metal head lights for SDKfz7, cause I'm dreading carving out the supplied white metal originals. Maybe someone will do some for he new 251?

Re: 6 new jerry cans - on Ebay
Well, they have arrived safely - and quite quickly from deepest China,
and I must say, I am quite impressed with them!!
They ARE plastic, of course, but not heavy - so hollow, I reckon.
They are really well finished - no flashing to remove - and finished
in a distressed used condition. Size 77mm high, 57 wide, 28 deep.
Just looking at them again, I realized the filling nozzle actually opens,
just like the real thing!! Well chuffed !!
The fact that they are marked "Kraftstoff 20l Feuergefahrlich", and have a white
cross (indicating Water?), and are for my British Centurian matters not to me -
they were obviously captured during combat !!

Re: 6 new jerry cans - on Ebay
Hi Mike
Hear hear !!, I get annoyed with perfectionists who would point that out but if there's a story behind something it makes it more interesting surely ?, lets say if you build a Sherman and added Balkenkreuz markings, then people would ask why and then there's a story....
Anything can be historically correct in war as it probably happened !!
Bryan.

Re: 6 new jerry cans - on Ebay
Following the initial post, I ordered 3 jerry cans from the same site in China and they arrived today. Like Mike, mine arrived safely and are very good, well worth the money and wait.
