Can anybody help I am trying to set up the electric's on our King Tiger (bench test)
We have the full package minus the smoke unit our transmitter is a Spektrum DX8.
Everything is all connected to the handbook instruction's but I don't have any info on how to set up the sound card programming for the amplifier unit to get the sound's.

Re: sound card programming with a Spektrum DX8
Hi Roger
I haven't got a Spectrum Dx8,but I googled the manual.
Assuming that you are bench testing and have been following the Armortek manuals and
you are at the stage before the amplifier fitting, with all your motors and limits
working.
Follow the armortek manual for the inclusion of the amplifier and the re arranging of
the wireing.
Looking at the Spectrum manual the 3 position switch that you want to assign to channel
5 is called flap/gear,and channel 5 is the normal gear channel used for the amplifier.
Page 15 "Switch select" shows where to go to in the programming sequence under setup of
the radio.
As long as you have not done nothing with the radio,it should bet set up for acro,
which is aircraft and if nothing has been done to the wing type section, this should be
INH inhibited.
All that means is that you can assign this switch to channel 5 which is normaly gear.
Hope that's a bit of help.
Cheers
Phil

Re: sound card programming with a Spektrum DX8
Hi Phil,
Many thanks for taking the time and effort in looking into the issue in setting up the electrics' on our King Tiger
We have connected all the electric's in the tank now and assigned channel 5 to the amp.
All we have is an initial engine idle sound but that is all we have.
Mark has said We need to go through the sound card programming feature to set up our sound's but we have no info on how to do this, maybe we are missing a manual ? not sure will ask Mark and Gill when they get back.
Many thanks for all your help, all the best hope your having fun with your's
Regards Roger and the Kid's

Re: sound card programming with a Spektrum DX8
Roger.
Does the engine sound start at power up ?
You want the Benedini in "toggle switch control", which is Page 11 of the manual. When the board is in this mode, it clacks 3 times at power up - it may sound like six, depending on your amplifier set-up.
To configure the Benedini board, you need to remove the top of the Amplifier Module. You'll need a small hex head screwdriver or hex key to undo the four button head screws in the corners of the lid.
Make sure the three position switch is in the central position.
Power up the tank and once powered up, press the small round button on the Benedini TBS5 sound card. It's on the side, next to two of the chips. The sound card should then step through each of the sounds in sequence, then it will play a series of clicks rapidly, like a train running over tracks. Things like the machine guns just play one sound, so sound like someone slamming a door.
Power off the tank, and then on again.
When it powers up, it should just play the initial clacks, but not the engine sounds.
On the 7C, you click the three position switch backwards the number of times for the sound you want, so once for engine start/stop, twice for engine rev etc, then forward to activate the sound. If you do the engine rev sound when the engine is not "running", it will play the sound then revert to idling.
Don't forget to put the top back on the Amplifier Module.
Adrian.

Re: sound card programming with a Spektrum DX8
Hi all
I respectively my King Tiger (2013) No 32 need some help or a hint depending the amplifier module. I have been in touch with Thomas Benedini, but he can't help without having the module in his own hands, therefore he asked me to send the amplifier module on him to Germany so he could test it. Eventually I have to send it, but before that I would like to ask you, practising members of the forum. Perhaps somebody of you have had similarly experience. I have a Futaba T7C Transmitter and everything seems to work - except the sound. I have connected all the electrics regarding the manuals, everything of the full package seems to be ok. Even the programmed channel five seems to work - but no Sound can be heard! And especially NO THREE INITIAL CLICKS can be heard at all. I sent a photograph to Gill and Mark only to be sure, that the connections are ok. I enclose this photo.
Does anybody have any experience with this problem or has an idea? If not, i will send the amplifier module to Thomas Benedini. Regards Peter

Re: sound card programming with a Spektrum DX8
Hi Peter.
Can you disconnect cables A to F and try the module with just the power and speaker connections attached ? Does it make any clicks at power up ?
Can you hear any hiss from the speakers with the volume turned up to maximum ?
If you take the top off the amplifier module, you should see the Benedini board LED flashing when it powers up, which might prove whether the issue lies with the Benedini board or the amplifier.
Also, check that the Benedini board is plugged into the amplifier board socket correctly.
Adrian.

Re: sound card programming with a Spektrum DX8
Hi Adrian
Thank you very much for your advices. I did disconnect A to F, turned up the volume to the maximum and pressed the Speakers on my ear. When it powers up the green led on the Benedini board is flashing three times, while in both speakers I can hear very, very slightly and quickly knocking (5 to 6 times) when it powers up.
Finally checking the boards is hard for me to do. I am not a specialist in electronics and therefore I am afraid something could get broken at the boards.
Adrian, do you have an additional advice based on my answer? Or do you think its time to check the boards by Mr Benetini himself?
Anyway - thanks a lot!
Peter
