Help with old 4QD DMR202

Have a Tiger with PRO 120 12v 4QD controllers and a 202 interface with an external ignition switch. The interface does not have external connectors like the newer 203.The model has not run for several years. The problem is that the model will run for a short while but then seems to power down into some sort of failsafe mode and will then do the same when the ignition switch is switched off and back on. I have tried using 40mhz and 2.4 radio without success. Is this likely to be an issue with battery capacity? If not any ideas? I would add that all the convoluted wiring I have bypassed with new.

According to the manual, which is available here:

it does have a fail safe mode, and there are two levels of sensitivity.

From the manual, with the jumper fitted, it is in "Low Sensitivity" mode, and with the jumper removed, it is in "High Sensitivity" mode.

From the figures given, high sensitivity will cause the system to go into fail safe if the signal has been deficient for 120mS, which is only about 6 frames of data.

Thank you for the response Adrian. I will do some further checking. I have a vague feeling that the capacity of the battery I am using to temporarily resurrect the model prior to its restoration is not adequate. It was originally powered by a 75ah battery and I will try one to see if this is the problem.

Do you mean 12V ? Are the motors 12V or 24V ?

They will be 24V if supplied by Armortek as part of a motion pack.

Are you powering it from 12V or 24V ?

Adrian yes they are 12v motors - its a totally custom made installation.

Sounds like a battery problem I had a very similar situation with my Tiger after it had not been used for a long while. You might try using an Optimate to try and recover the battery charge level. I am by no means knowledgable on this but it sounds just like my issue I hope this might help you.

Thanks Malcolm but the original 75ah battery was at least 10 years old and beyond help. I had hoped that a 26ah would at least give me an idea if the model was still functional but I suspect it does not have a big enough capacity for this one off installation. Now ordered a new 75ah to see if this solves the problem.
