Sticky backed Velcro

One of the things I did before taking the BARV to Normandy was to use Velcro to attached the modules to the hull sides.

On taking them out yesterday to test the Amplifier Module, I found that the Velcro I used sticks to itself better than it sticks to the tank

I cleaned the painted hull sides with water first, then IPA, so there shouldn't have been any dust, dirt or grease to affect the adhesion.

Anyone else found this

I was using 10mm wide strip, for the whole length of the module, but I think I'll strip that all off and try 25mm strip in smaller lengths instead.

When I built my Panzer 111L I used some Velcro from B&Q advertised as
Heavy Duty.
I put a square in the corner of each battery and just wiped the dust off my hull.
when I came to strip things out and redo my suspension properly,Ihad to use a big
screwdriver as a crowbar
I have not seen it since in B&Q but I still have the box with some left so I will
see if there is any part number on it.
I think the details on the box said it would hold 18kg verticle.
Will have a look when I get home from work and let you know.

Just Googled it and Amazon and wyckes have it showing.
20mm and 50mm
I used the 50mm and the product info showed 50mm x 100mm strip will hold 15kg
after curing about 15 minutes.

Wery heavy duty. Did'nt even cleas surface and difficult to remove.

Hello Adrian,
Try 3M scotchmate SJ352D good for removable items or 3M dual lock SJ355D for more permanent fixing, both 25mm width, good enough for f1 cars good enough for us, not cheap but you get what you pay for.
Make sure you clean the surface very well, i use wurth brake cleaner, then make sure you don't get your grubby fingers on the sticky back of the Velcro,
